Mylar tents are they really worth it?

Hey guys am thinking of upgrading my area to a tent which measure 4ftx4ftx6ft( think that is right in feet its 1.2mx1.2mx2m). I am currently running a 400w hps light in a smaller grow space which i am thinking probaly wont be suffiecient for the new area. This new steup will come at a cost of 2oz to me. Do u think i would make back the 2oz investment with the next batch(thinkn of doing 6 plants 2wekks grow 8weeks flower) and should i upgrade to a 600w??? All feedbak greatly appreicated Cheers guys

you can build you something for a hell of alot cheaper and better. Besides that you can build it to the exact specifications you need. You can find alot of step by step how to's on the internet.

I enjoy my tent helps with my veg in the same room not messing up my light cycle for flower.

No. Only because if you found a room for a plant to stay in for a couple months you might as well utilize the entire space. Its like putting a box inside of a box to me. IMO of course

it will do what you need. you will definitley need a 600 watt. Intake and exuast. And if you really want to yield some wieght push a C02 system of some sort... tents were created to make a small space more compatible so take advantage them.

Ya its worth it but build it yourself. Just built a pvc tent with poly for half the price and it was the exact size i wanted

This morning I put together a very nice 5x5x7.5 tent I got online for about $170. I had a minor issue putting the canvas on and tore a little hole in it. Of all my complaints, they are kinda a bitch to set up. Easier than doing it yourself though. I tried that, didn't work well. The cost of the PVC and the jointing is going to run you $40-$50, then you need the reflective shit, so another $40, and duct tape of course because your a man, and you do man things with tape, so another $10. Then you have to piece it all together. Why do all that and spend $90 to $100 in process when you can get a tent for $100 to $150 on ebay and know that it will work right, with zippers and duct holes and shit like that?

They do provide a place for hanging things like ventilation and lighting without damaging walls and ceilings. They are also portable, no matter the size of room. I chose a 5x5 because that's the proposed limit of space in California on Prop. 19 and because it's the perfect size for my 1000w lamp. Most of all, they eliminate the issue of light tightness and will help a new grower from unintentionally flashing their flowering plants with light during the dark period. I won't grow without a tent because I'll never need more than 25 square feet and a 1000w bulb. I'm pulling like .5 grams per watt on a bad grow, and if I get it dialed in this time I'm set. I'm not growing to sell, I grow so that I can smoke the best shit around. So identify your needs, get yourself a light and a tent that match up with these needs, and be done with it. Eventually it's just plug and play, and I get to keep the other 95 square feet of my spare 10x12 bedroom. I'm planning on putting in a couch, and a really small exhaust system with carbon filter that I can turn on when I'm smoking. That way I can open up all the doors and windows on the tent, turn on some tunes, smoke out, and have it all vented outside scent free without damaging the plants.

I don't grow in a tent, but I have seriously thought about a few ways I could utilize them. I'm a closet grower, and that can be slightly restricting. Luckily I'm in a position where I can cut holes and stuff, but running ventilation in a room is not something everyone can do. Tents remove that. If I were in an apartment I would still be growing, and I'd have an extra bedroom dedicated to an op. I could build a blackout or panda wall (or just a crappy sheet rock one) to separate flower from veg, but I still am going to have a trickier time getting venting run so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, without doing things that a landlord would be unhappy about (and rightly so ). An easy way to deal with that is to setup two tents, vent into the room, problem solved. The things look just like big wardrobe movers (or just portable wardrobes) and really don't stick out. Of course if you need to grow a lot, tents are usually not the best move, but for a 6x4 or smaller area, they are a good fit. I could also see them used to convert a grow room to a perpetual operation (if you couldn';t dedicate two separate rooms) by separating veg or flower into a tend enclosed in the normal grow room.
Anyway, a grow tent isn't like nutrients... You don't need it to grow good pot. It's a tool, and if you have a need that this tool fits, then it very well might be worth the 2oz. Is it going to give you 2 more oz off your next harvest just by using a tend instead of a room? Unlikely. If you have no reflective surfaces around the plants you will see a little increase as they will get more light, but a roll of mylar is going to be a cheaper solution than a tent. Also, a smaller space will get hotter and therefore be harder to cool than a larger space, so if you lack proper venting or have lights that overpower the space a tent would give you, they can easily cause a decrease in yield. As with everything in growing, it's not black and white. There are a million tools and styles, and almost all are valid if you mix them properly. The key is recognizing what will fit your situation best

I don't see nothing wrong with them. If you have a good size tent you can get some good yield especially if you abuse the facT that's its a indoor greenhouse. Small area enclosed and you controll what happens. Easy to remove and easy to put back up incase for sudden movements. Not like custom built cabs. I'm pretty sure anyone would prefer a room but for those who can't a tent is the next best thing to it.

Cheers guys have provided the insight in which i seek! I am currently using a ensuite toilet area as my room which i have a inline 200mm fan venting out of. The 400w i feel is probaly sufficient for this area though i am considering going upto a 600w as my 400w is on loan atm from a friend anyway, i dun have reflective surfaces on the wall and know that i prob should so mayb that be a better move. i was looking at doing the tent as it would provide me with more room to grow, as my 3 plants are getting increalingly cramped, also have 2 small still in veg mode in there. so at the moment i am carting the 3 in flower to the otherisde of my house to the dark walk in robe after they have made there 12hours of sun. If i do get a 600w now will the current plants that are 4weeks into flower benefit at all?This was fine at first but is increasling getting harder has buds grow bigger as i dun wana cause any damage! To sum all this up wot i think i should really be doing is lining my existing room with panda or myla upgrading to a 600w and growing less plants in my restricted area which i think that most of you would agree is my best option other than getting a tent? My room at the moment is sumwot stealth as well, as visitors wont just march into ur bedroom but are more inclined to do this in the room tat the tent would be set up in. I love my tent but you have to think about Ventilation its not for everybody
