Mysterious light poltergeist

I am running 9 HPS 1000 watt lights with digital ballasts to a 12 light controller box with plenty of power to run everything. I have a single light that has persistently given me trouble for about a year. I gave up on using it altogether for a few rounds and am once again trying to solve the issue. I’ve been growing for almost a decade and have never encountered this problem before. The pattern with the light started with it occasionally shutting off for a few moments before coming back online for most of the light cycle. Slowly the problem got worse to the point where the ratio of on/off swapped and the light would turn on only to turn off about a minute later and remain off.

I have tried the following to pinpoint and fix the issue:
• changing out the bulb multiple times
• changing out the ballast multiple times
• changing out the the hood multiple times
• changing out power cords multiple times
• having the box checked by an electrician

I will probably just default to not using the light again as the poltergeist prevails. Any ideas?
Thanks y’all!

You replaced the ballast, you replaced the hood, and the power cable. I don’t see how we can blame the light at this point since ever single aspect of the light has been replaced. I feel certain it’s the light controller since that is the only piece of the puzzle you haven’t changed.

Double check all wiring in the controller. Might need to use a multimeter or some other electrical equipment to get an idea of what’s going on.

Thank you! I had someone look at the controller and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I’ll investigate this more, as agreed: all the other variables have been accounted for already.

Hit up the manufacturer too. They may know about this issue. Worse case- buy a new one, if the problem doesn’t go away then return it.

is the controlller capable of handling all that wattage/amps your throwing at it? I’m curious if the controller is causing issues because it can’t handle the load.
