Mystery seed, first grow, CFL

Well a few weeks ago I was bored out of my mind (I got laid off last year) and figured I'd start growing my own, so after a few days online reading just about every topic I can think of, I've decided to go ahead and start.

This will be as low budget as I can possibly keep it.

One of our budtenders had been gathering seeds for about 2 months now, he had 6 total, one of which literally came out of the Jack Herer jar (I hope she's a girl!!) This isn't crap weed either, his stuff is top notch.

Anyway, Day 1, germination and grow box setup:

Don't laugh at me, I'm using my kitchens dishwasher as my grow box, it's about 2 feet by 2 feet, I took the front apart yesterday and found that it has a decent sized intake with something blocking it, which was easily removed with 2 screws. Today I went to Fry's and bought a pc fan, I'm going to try and set it up so that the fan is inside the dishwasher sucking air in, through charcoal and then back out again.

Attached are a few pics. I'm only starting with one single seed for now as a practice run, hopefully if I can get the dishwasher idea to work If it does and the plant seems to be ok after a couple of weeks, I'll start up another 2 seeds and keep that first one vegging until I can flower her (hopefully a her) and throw in the new one's (which I plan to keep vegging in another area by then)

ANY comments, criticism, stabs, etc are welcomed. I have about a month to try this out before I might have to bail on the project anyway, we might move...

Love the dishwasher idea, lmao. Its super resourceful. Think space might be an issue? Might want to move the light as high up as possible as the plants get taller.

Thanks, the plan is to keep the light low for now and adjust it as the little baby needs it, I have 2 other lights I will add once the plant needs it.

Here is a list of the possible strains I might get from the seeds, 5 of them are random, I know one for sure is a Jack Herer

Nice variety. Lets hope you get plenty females out of them. You gna be able to tell the different strains apart easily?

My budtender says he can, if we get a good female and he recognizes it, he might keep her as a mother to clone her. I also have pictures of just about each one of those that we can compare to if we need to.

Thanks, if the seed starts to show life by Sunday I'll take the time to set up the new home as best as I can. I've googled and searched for a grow like this but didn't find anything, I hope it works and can benefit other people

Thanks, Im definitely planning to keep this thread updated Hopefully that little seed does it's thing overnight so I can go to Home Depot to pick up the rest of the stuff tomorrow

I need to add these strains to this list, I forgot he had them during that period but I never bought any

I started germinating about 13 hours ago, gonna check in on it sometime after noon and hope to see some development, if not I'll probably just scrap that and start another seed, or should I give it more time? I don't want to have 2 plants started until I find out where I'm moving...

Well it looks like the seed started to crack today, I'm going to give it another day or so and hope that it's ready for soil soon

Usually it can take a seed 1-4 days to germ them, whatever strain you grow needs to be a naturally short one like Northern Lights would be a good one, also if this first grow is a success and you get the hang of it you should try your hand with a micro grow (where you only veg for about a week or two, and then put into flower, this would be best suited for your grow area) anyway the best of luck to ya.

Yea I dropped that attempt and started 3 last night, one medical mystery seed and 2 crappy Mexican seeds, if one of the Mexican one's come out female I'm going to let it sit in the corner of the apartment and let it grow naturally with the sun, these are legal anyway and that corner is hard to see from outside. The medical one I'm going to attempt to grow inside the dishwasher, that one should be ready for soil tomorrow morning.

(personal note, day 2 after seeding)

If the dishwasher idea does work I will probably go with autoflower for the next grow, I'm pretty sure I can fit at least 3 in there. That Northern Lights sounds good, I think it's even part of what made the Jack Herer strain?

Northern Lights is one of the most used strains for breeding due to to high yield and dank smoke.

I finally got to try some Lemon Kush this weekend, now it's tied for my favorite along with Jack Herer, I'd really like to grow something like this:

According to some other thread I'm reading, my seed is ready for soil, I'm going to wait a few hours until it gets dark and put it in soil.

It will be setup in the kitchen for about a week or so until I finish the dishwasher, hopefully by Tuesday. For now I have micro cfl's. Looks like I'm going to have to head back to Lowe's and pick up a couple of stronger bulbs..

what i reco is that in the beginning try to keep that light as close as possible so as they grow up they grow wide so he will have all of the 1st inch of the plant to grab clones from and you will have a nice wide shorty that you could get some good bud out of.
