Name these 3 problems - PICS

Hey guys, my friend just sent me these pictures, not quite sure of the exact problems, but I do know the pH is lower than usual..around 5.5 and these are in soil..

He says the pH won't rise, flushed with 8.0 pH tap water and runoff still tests around 5.5...very strange to me, I'm not sure why it won't come up to at least 6

currently 5.5 pH runoff with 1,500 ppm of nutes

Is it getting micronutrients?

yes, using the whole roots organic line along with some of the soil additives as a top dress. also using oregonism xl

I'm a newbie, but my opinion is number 2 could be nute burn. 3, possibly not enough light getting to lower leaf area???
?

5.5 doesn't sound that bad, PH-wise, but if it is, could it be that its somehow causing the roots to not get enough oxygen?

Light dolomite lime will help w/raising pH.. that said, there's been more than a few issues with RO soil and nutes combined - they can tend to run a bit 'hot', based on what others have posted on the RIU forums in the past few years.

Looks like over watering, not enough cal-mag, to small of pots, and a little stretch, other than that you're good..

And I just use tap water left out for 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate...good luck

thanks for the tips..ive ruled it down to cal/mag for the rusting leaf and phosphorus def/lockout from the yellowing/dying edges

whats odd is i top dressed about 2 tbs of dolomite lime per 3 gallon grow bag about a month ago..thought that would keep the ph higher but its still dropping into the low 5's

You have to get the PH 6.5 or you get issues like you have. As you can see your locking out N, P, K, Ca and Mg .

Agreed on this, he'd mention pH dropping issues and is why I recommended dolomite lime to try to keep it in check. The lockout at 5.5 for extended periods could be quite disasterous.

Flush for what reason? The plant isn't getting critical nutes as it is due to pH lockout...

We've been watering with 8.0 pH tap water and it stays in the 5's...dolomite lime top dressed at the start of flowering 4 weeks ago..doesnt seem to be working.

I'm thinking the use of pH down for the first 2 weeks has probably built up in the soil...

Should I add some pH up to the already high 8.0 to make it 9.0? Then maybe some of the pH up will buffer the pH down that is currently in the soil?

Would definitely hit it with something a bit higher on the pH scale... That said, extremely high microbial levels in many soil mixes, or homebrews can cause the pH to crash... which means you need to keep an eye on all of the conditions, and keep them static or as close to static as you can. Too much or too little, or a major flux of more than a few could cause the pH to be erratic.. independent of normal pH'd water, or water with pH up... use of lime, etc.

Hit them with some 9.0pH today using some pH UP and it seemed to have worked. runoff testing between 7-7.5 now. I know 7.5 is a little too high, but I'd rather be higher for now, because I'll soon hit them with another 6.5 feeding next water.
