decrease the debt then the government will be able to dip back into it.

whats the point? then you are just giving more money to the gov for them to piss it away

That is their debt from their foolish spending, not ours.

I say we sell most of the federal land west of the Mississippi to the highest bidders. The lotto too....why not.

Hey Yeah, Med ... That's what we need! A national lottery with the same crooks in charge of it who gave us Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac! LMAO!

Here's a National Lottery for you ...

1. Eliminate the capital gains tax.

2. Cut the top income tax rate to 15%.

3. Lower the corporate tax to 20%.

4. Instead of #2, eliminate the income tax and the IRS in their entirties and replace it with a simple, constitutional, sales tax.

Everyone wins with that lottery.

How does anyone feel about a national Lotto to help pay down the debt?
Lotteries have been tried by governments repeatedly. I read that the first was back in 1775. But they always fail because people eventually get tired of throwing their money away on an extreme long-shot.

If you really want to pay down the debt, then force a real 5 percent cut in spending for four years. Factor in natural expansion of the economy and the debt disappears in 4-8 years.

"It is well known that total government spending relative to GDP is higher in Canada than in the United States, but it is less clear where exactly Canadian governments spend more (or less) than their American counterparts."
Government spending in Canada and the United States

and we dont have the catastrophic national debt you do

maybe we put our money BACK into the economy instead to foreign countries and foreign wars. hmm

Well, maybe untill they watch that show on TV about lotto winners. Ca still has millions that play the lotto weekly, I mean, what's a buck, that's all it takes to win. When I lived in CA., I would buy a Lotto ticket every time I went into a convience store, maybe once or twice a week, BFD, one or two bucks a week, never hit the big one (Obviously), but I hit a couple of 50-60 dollar ones. A national Lotto with some good oversight, could actually help the debt, and have larger and more payouts. If They paid out 25% of the intake, and 25% for Operational costs, That would leave quite a few millions for the debt. Nevada doesn't have a Lotto, (Gambling interests won't allow it), so me and I'm sure a few others would welcome it.
