Need a good budget grow box...

Hi, this is my first post on this forum but I have been searching through it more often lately as I want to start learning how to grow. I have been looking at many different boxes and this one seemed to interest me the most http://1growbox.com/shop/page/1?shop_param=

both of them seem low cost and have more room compared to a pc box, but cant find any reviews on them. Im growing for a large personal use as I smoke way to much and cant afford paying anymore. If anyone has any suggestions on other good boxes or cabinets please let me know. I know a lot of people are gonna say DIY but i do not have tools and would rather have it properly made and functional..

Suggestions very much appreciated! Would like to stay below $500 or $600 if possibly

you can make one at Lowes or HD for under $50

yeah man just make one, or find a old dresser or something

check out my grow it hasnt been great but i have gone though a couple cabs. you can easily modify something in the house to a grow box for little to no money depending on what you have lying around

seriously tho if you have a flat 600 bucks to get started, got to amazon and look at grow tents, pick one out that fits your space requirments and get a decent 400w HID light. dont forget to buy the carbon filter and inline fan.
150$ tent
200$light 300$
100$ fan 400$
80$ carbon scrubber 480$ (give or take)

you can hop pon attitude and order some pick and mix beans (whatever you can afford)


hit up home depot for some $3.00 homer buckets (6 minimum)

some red solo cups to start in

some decent ORGANIC soil ( i say organic because it is a much simpler soil to use and harder for beginer growers to fuck up)

a soil PH test as close to 6.8 as you can get and some nutrients, whatever you can afford a well rounded nutrient can be used for entire grow, something like 10-10-10

ill sub up to this, help you get started but with 600 bucks you can get a pretty good first grow started just gotta get the right stuff for your money, might not be fancy but it will yeild.

a small, upright freezer, free from Craigslist. or on the cheap, at least. light-tight, insulated, and a built-in excuse for making a motor sound. already white on the inside.

ive looked into grow tents. Stealth isnt a huge issue but It would be nice to have a lock on it. What would be something good to convert? Or would it be possible to buy a tent and put it in something that locks?

Also I heard hydro gives you a better yield over soil, im not sure how true that is, but the bigger the yield i can get the better. (obviously. lol)

i believe the tents have a doubble zipper so you can put a small lock on both zippers and they can run the zippers from one end to another without opening. it is just a zipper tho so as long as you just trying to prevent no aggressive invasion your fine, a simple knife will cut through the tent

im pretty sure yeild is the same but the plant grows faster in hydrow, dont quote me on this tho, a hydro system look at spending a extra 400$ if you on a budget sopil is your best option in my opinion

if you are going for yield, sure. for flavor, soil.

yeah also heard soil has better tasting buds but i cant vouch for that myself as i have never grown in hydro

Thats deffintly a plus if the tents have a zipper lock. But I want to be prepared for a worst case scenario, say if someone broke in or something(happened about a month ago). The grow will be out of sight, as its in my bedroom closet. But say if I had a friend or somebody in my bedroom, would they people to hear/notice the grow?

who me? i personally ont think so, i feel bad giving advice as shitty as my grow went but i learned alot and next grow i will avoid crucial mistakes i made on this one.

anyways, noise....well depends on how elaborate you get. you can build a sound proof box for your fan and get a really quiet fan to circulate air inside to keep noise down, i also heard ballasts make a little bit of noise as well.

as far as friends, if you cant show them your grow they aint your friend in my honest opinion, all my friends know i grow. hell i even show em avery time they come over.

Its fine if it made a little noise, I just don't want it to be obnoxiously loud and draw lots of attention. But would putting a grow tent inside say a cabnit a good idea, so that way it could have a better lockl? Or would whatever the tent is placed in cut off the air flow and circulation to much? Because a grow tent would be very cheap and efficent

just get one that fits a closet and upgrade the door/locks on the closet

depending on size of closet you may have to figure out a way to vent it, where would the closet be? do you own your house?

The closet would be in my room, and no i do not unfortunaltly /: I do have other people living with me, so the less they know the better. Would the closet need to be bigger then the tent for more air flow or could it be exact and just cut a few slits or something for air. im not sure

the closet would definatly need to be bigger, your going to want a good ventilation and intake source using a HID light. if it needs to be hush hush i suggest rocking the CFL model or a T5 unit and a couple CFL for side lighting. they wont create so much heat and will require less vent. still going to need to vent so the close it going to have to be bigger than the tent, the more the better.


remember flouros create heat too
