My wife has been in the wholesale car business for about 13 yrs.
And remember right now no one is buying truck's.
You are in the driver's seat. The dealer is yours so take advantage.
And if you are not great at bargaining take a friend who is. I alway's let my wife do the negotiation no matter what it is for.

*^^ problem is, if he is a Ford owner. He prolly wants American. Tundra may be made here, but in principle, 'its a foreign jobby'. Imo
Yeah I'm more of an american car buyer myself, love my jeep, but if I were to buy a truck it would proabably be the tundra

Here's an idea...

Get a series of gift wrapped boxes, one inside the other... and in the last box, put this...

Then go out with him and pick out a truck, the lack of suprise of a brand new truck already purchased, will be made up for by the excitement of going to the dealership and realizing that all the trucks there could potentially be his !

It took me a while to whip that up in photoshop, I had to hand outline the whole image, and smooth it out with the eraser tool, pixel by pixel...

Gastanker nailed it, the best thing will be to bring him to the dealership. I can tell you that I'd rather have my 1988 Toyota Corolla back then the 1996 Infiniti I was gifted for doing some work for a family member. Sounds illogical but I can cite many reasons why I prefer that old clunker over my newer luxury car...and time is not easing the blow either.

EDIT - great idea, Sr. Verde

I own a ford....Fuck it it sux but it's all i got:/ Anyways I would also recommend a silverado because my grandpa has owned a few and they are dcependable my old chevy van drove perfectly unlike my ford which seems like the pedals are all fucked up and the steering is not sensitive enough. I like the looks of Nissan's pick up truck my wife owns a nissan it's a pretty good ride.

$35,000 will get you a 350 dually diesel Ford.

There is no finer truck, and none can outperform it or OUTLAST it. I GAVE AWAY my 95 dually to my Mexican crew who have a ranch in Southern Mexico. This was 5 years ago....and when I gave it to them, it was in great shape and had 350,000 miles on it. It is still down there working the ranch last time I spoke to them.

Get the half cab if you have to. If you have kids, pony up to the full crew. It is roomier than most cars.

Found On Road Dead

I have had a Nissan Frontier for the past 2 years. I love it. Great in the snow. Probably will buy another when I pay this one off.

I'm not much for imports, but if I were to get a truck right now it would probably be a toyato tundra. They retail for 23-43k so you should find something nice. They look pretty bad-ass to me, also it has a nice 5.7l V8
agreed, Id go with the tundra I know a couple people who have them.

Ford sells the most trucks for a reason. It isn't because ppl think they aren't dependable.

Get a diesel and don't look back. Buy your QUALITY upfront. Toy's are good...but no diesel. Gas engines are the worst, they don't last.

i've owned dodge, chevy, and ford... they are all good trucks. they all have their own problems that they are known for.. biggest being dodge with their transmission problems on their gas trucks as far as i am concerned. Had multiple friends with dodges that had trannys shit out on them. In the end, i think it comes down to what you use the truck for and how well you take care of it. We have an old ford dump truck with a gas motor...the thing is from the 60's, we use it during harvest season to haul grain and it still runs like a top 50 years later. I had a 93 silverado that i put over 400k miles on and never did anything but replace spark plugs, u joints, battery and alternator from day one. have a 2000 silverado now that i use as a farm truck, got 200k on it and it runs great.. hasn't ever broke down on me either. Diesel is a lot more expensive to begin with, but if you can afford it go for it! got a buddy with a 2500 cummins..6 inch suspension lift, 3 inch body lift, 37 inch tires, and a few motor mods (chip, fuel pump, tuner, etc). That truck gets well over 20mpg at 80mph pulling a trailer with his boat and could probably pull my house down if he wanted to. All this being said, if i were to go buy a new truck today.. i'd buy a ford. for normal driving conditions and some towing here and there, the truck will be just as reliable as the others. I really like the fact that they are american and didn't take bailout money, to me that says a lot about their pride... but im from a place where that counts just as much as anything.
