Okie dokie. I'm a noob and just about to start me up a good grow. I have lots and lots of questions but right now I'l just blurt out a couple. I have been looking at lights and have noticed a lot of people using 400 to 1000 watt grow lights. I ran across what seems to be a good deal but the light is only 175 watts HPS system. Is an HPS very energy efficient? and is the light powerful enough? I was planing on buying 3 or 4 if they will work good. There only 80 bucks at www.hydrowholesale.com. So is this just a rip off? Also I was looking for the shortest marijuana plant I can get. I'm obviously not looking to get a huge yield but I dont want to end up with just a couple bowls full either. I have been researching and so far I have been looking at the lowrider. From what I have read they can grow about 1 foot tall at its peak. Is this realy the shortest strain you can get? Oh, and to get the plant to be even shorter instead of geting a regular pot that can be a foot tall can I just make a my own pot that is only about 5 inches tall and have the roots grow outwards? If I need I can prop the plant up some how if it doesnt have enough dirt to keep it up. Im trying to squeese these plants into an area of about 3 and a half feet tall so I'm trying to safe all the space I can. Thanks buds and stay green :)

No, HPS are not energy efficient when compared to LED's. You will get a better grow with HPS though well worth it. Mine cost me about $30 per month per 1000 watt HPS.

What size room are you going to set up in? How many plants?

As for strain I am no expert. You can pretty much flip the light whenever you need to in order to control the plants height. If they still get too tall you can bend them over.

If you are flowering so soon and keeping them that small you should not have to worry about the roots too much. I grew my plants all between 18-24 inches tall in 2"x2"x2" rockwool cubes before transplanting.

instead of buying 3-4 175 watt hps just by 1 400-600 watt. and no there not energy efficent but there there best for flowering and good for veg. if your want really small plants go for the auto hindu kush .

If you want the best results possible out of those 175's, use one per plant. If you plan to keep them really short, light penetration won't be a big issue, so those 175's will produce some kick-ass buds. Of course, bigger is always better, but if done right, you could grow some impressive plants with those 175 watt lights.
