whats up guys!
im planning on doing my first indoor dwc grow with a 600 or 400 watt light ( im leaning more towards the 600:eyesmoke:). i just had a few questions before i got everything going.
im wanting to get a grow tent to do it all in as well. now, with the light being in the tent will i have heat issues? and should i use seperate buckets or one big tub for my dwc system? im not planning on going over 6 girls but on my first attempt im going to do about 3. do i even need a grow tent? i think it will help with the odor and the total darkness they will need when its that time. any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes heat will be an issue even if you have aircooled hoods... i just got a tent and had to invest in a seperat fan just to pull heat out... of course i live in an area it gets really hot during summer but still those tent have thermal insulation or something which really keeps the heat in if you have it sealed. Keep in mind if you do DWC with 6 plants, all in one resi or in individual buckets that is a lot of water to change and that means a ton of work as well... i don;t know your budget but if you want to that many plant and have cash cheack the Under Current DWC systems... i don;t know much about them but it looks pretty cool... only thing is they are expensive... but cheaper way would be ebb & flo i guess or some sort of flood and drain system for the tent... Make sure you get a fan to pull out your heat and don;t be cheap on this part of your gro, at least i have learned that from bad experiences..lol and get a carbon scrubber if odor is a concern... good luck

hey ind,

a grow tent would be very warm and would require sufficient heat..i suggest waiting until 12/12 with an HPS to use the tent im using 400w in my closet 4x7x10 and heat is a factor even without the tent. check out my growjournal in my sig link

thanks for the input guys. but i been thinking about getting a 400 watt cmh and a 4 ft wide x 2 ft deep x 5 ft tall grow tent. does anyone know if that would be a big enought tent for my light and my dwc buckets. i plan on doing LST on them to keep them short.

If i were you sense you are on the fence about 400/600w get a NextGen ballast. The 600w ones can run 600w and 400w so if 600w is to much heat you dont have to ditch the ballast. Plus they are very good ballast.
