I suggest reading these forums, search for answers if you need help. There are so many different aspects you need to concider first. How big you plan to veg your plants, if your using 2 75w lights you need to figure the distance from the plant they will be compared to your total height. How big are you growing these plants? The lights SHOULD work, but depends on a lot of aspects.

If your growing your plants in a closet or some small area, then yeah those lights might work, but it all depends. You want to go organic or what, I dont understand the point of nuteless soil for a firtime grow, unless you plan on adding all of the plants nutes yourself. In which case you will spend more in extra nutes than a bag of soil with them already in.

Biggest things you need to ensure you dont cause. !) over watering (I would say mix your soil 50/50 with perilite) 2) underlighting (Your already worried, its understandable) 3) Nutes and defenciencies (Self explanitory, these plants are reseliant, but they still need things just like you or I) and 4) Fresh air, proper exhaust(You need fresh air for your plants, just as you need to push the fresh air out). 5) Do NOT over love them! (You will learn by what I mean).

I know its overkill for your question, just my 2 cents.

I'm not farmiliar with that soil but it sounds like miracle grow or scotts. If it is, it is not organic, and has timer release chemical fertilizers in it. I do not recomend this to start grow but if you must, its probably a good idea to cut it with perilite. The lights you have are fine but don't expect more than an ounce or so. Aluminum foil is also fine, it reflects a lot of light people are going to tell you it creates hot spots, but just shrug it off they're wrong. Tell us a little more about the area that you are growing in and we can help out.

aluminum foil sucks. best bang for your buck is flat white paint.

well since he already lined his room with foil the best bang for his buck is to not take it down and buy white pain.

8-10 inch is a bit small, but 2 1/2 feet wide can fit a bunch of 8" pots and do a mini SOG and hope for a good number of females

SOG (Sea Of Green) baisicly small plants 1 main cola, can find plenty of threads on it explaining more

im assuming your growing in some form of a insert in a wall like a build in bookshelf or something?

also not familiar with the lights you said can you post a link to them so i can view them, if they are incandecents wich alot of places like to sell as "grow lights" they arent really good.

ale420, those bulbs are no good. Incandescents do not provide a suitable grow spectrum. You will be better served with two 42-watt (that's real watts, not "equivalent" Cool White compact fluorescents. cn

thanks man but you dont see many of those numbers on the bulbs i need all you see is the cfl wattage and the incandescent wattage i even looked for color of the rays adn it didnt give me tht and the highest wattage i can find is lik fifty actual watts for the cfl im thinking about buying some regular bulb holders and getting the y socket thing that screws in them and buy those lil cfl fuckers maybe grab three bulb holders equal 6 fifty watts cfl maybe three with 6500 k and three with 2700k and leave it at tht how does tht sound?? i want to make sure that ll work out and wont case a damn house fire

If you choose 42-watt CFLs, two will be adequate (not plentiful, but ... adequate) for your space. "Will I get at least _____ weight" is a very difficult question to answer. Ideally, yes. However SO much depends on how talented, patient and attentive a grower you turn out to be. The first grow's goal is perhaps best not weight ... but completion from seed to bud, with lessons learned for running the next grow better. cn
