Need assistance with how to rig this door. stealth file drawer.

Hello cannabuddies!

i was rummaging through my garage and came across this little guy:


I plan on converting it to a stealth mother/clone box, but am having trouble with making the door.
The drawer faces sit fluch within the border of the box, like so:

i know i could use some sort of concealed hinge to hang it, but don't really want to, i'd prefer to take the whole door off so i have more space to move around the outside of the box.

So yeah, my question is how do I attach a door without having hinges, and have it still be light proof.


p.s. ~ here's whats flowering right now, 5 and a half weeks so far. Two of them smell like straight Grape PEZ

Your ganna need magnets then 2 peaces of mylar or panda film staple one peace on bottom of box then one in front of box but one in front with Velcro on top and bottem then staple or tape sides u will need tarb zipper in middle the open and off technical of the drawers all you need is the front face drawer part not the hole slid drawer then drill and set magnets to make it sit in their.........

i could do that. might need to use a few corner braces on the inside so i can attach the magnets and keep the face from falling into the box. i'll pick up some more mylar and maybe some foam strips to seal off the front next time i go to the hardware store. thanks for your help man!

here's some eye candy for ya.
this is a strain that a friend of mine used to grow, but he grew many different strains and my seeds ended up getting mixed up. so i decided to call it Sloth. there are two of this, but one seems to have broader leaves, just slightly.

oh man those look tasty and i bet the ladies smell nice and ripe too eh. cant wait till mine are up and going agin. im more of an outdoor type but just rigged up my 2nd cabinet setup to get the ladies started for the late spring.

Hey, nice man! I'm thinking about doing kind of the same thing. But in my setup i've been thinking about using 2 of those. That way, i'd grow a plant in one side table, and take some flowering clones, 18/6 them for a week in the other side table and then flower the shit out of 'em. I've heard that flowering clones are really good for this purpose, they grow fast but small. I know i'm not gonna have large buds, but in one of those, you can't expect big plants...planning on scroging also, LST just doesn't seal the deal. You got no probs though, being only for mother and clones. I plan on having no mothers...only flowering clones, pick the best, grow it, take flowering clones from it and so on...The trick is, how are going to fit a mother and clones in there? If you're going for stealth, you're going to need some light traps...and those motherfuckers take up a lot of space. It's funny how a shit load of peeps grow in PC cases and have a hard time growing in drawers, i've seen people give side tables a lot of shit. I like them, +rep, wanna see how this turns out.

lol yeah, thats just the box for vegging, i have an IKEA dresser that i converted into my flowering box, its doing ok, just need to throw up some flat white on the interior and maybe upgrade to a 250W hps, i'm just about 250 with cfls. the Sloth smells like the grape markers they had in elementary. so bomb. i acually finished ^this^ box, just need pics to prove it lol

Greatwhite, those videos were an inspiration to my build!

I ended up taking some 1/4" particle board, and after removing the drawer backs and slides, i atached the drawer faces to it, as evenly spaced as i could get it. Then I lined the inside with mylar and rigged up a 2.5" pc fan for ventilation. Its pretty small but i don;t plan on having that many lights in there, so i doubt it will get hot. I still need to work on more light proofing and ventilation intake.

But here is what I have got going on so far:

Looking all stealthy next to the flower box. THAT still needs some work for light proofing, but that's for another day.

Nice! Damn, man for small plants they're giving decent size buds! You're going for 8-11 weeks? How d'ya keep them small like that? No up-canning? Nice to see another organic grower!! Very nice, i pray that my setup looks like yours! If you want to put a 250w HPS, you'll need to cool tube it. Although i think 150W HPS might also work for you! Don't wanna be bleaching up your plants, haha! But nah, a 250 watter in there will get you some dank buds!! Best of luck!! Subed!!

Also, i bet some normal weatherstripping can light proof that door!! Since you'll be veggin there isin't much to say about intake/outtake, just have good air circulation. But when flowering, and plants get real stinky, it's good to exhaust more air out (through a filter of course) then take in, creates a negative pressure on the box and won't leak smell at all, found this out recently!!

this is my best grow so far and i must say experience is the best thing anyone can have. never had a run this good! lol I'm still trying to guess what the yield will be, any guesses?

To keep them small i just did some LST, was trying to go for a "crop circle" but this was my first LST attempt. They all started in red cups, then i moved them into modified 2 liter bottles with a little hydroton on the bottom for flower. I vegged them for 3 weeks, and since i'm unsure as to what this strains harvest time is, i will be keeping an eye on the trichomes. These buds are seeds on purpose so i wont harvest till the seeds are viable, but i will document when the trichomes are to my liking the future. Maybe I could spread some genetics around if anyones interested.

I'm happy you like my setup, i have come to think of it as kinda half assed, but its a combination of my previous grows with an aerogarden and other shit. its very inexpensive, 42W bulbs at walmart for 6 bucks aint bad! lol i have just been lucky enough to happen to have these boxes to work with. gotta love IKEA!!

I am definitely going to try for the 250W, i have the supplies for making a cool tube, so heat isn't worrying me that much, light bleaching maybe lol, would be kinda cool to smoke the ghostly buds...trip out some friends. hahahah lemme know if you guys have any other suggestions.

As for smell, i don't really bother with it, i smoke in my room so it always reeks of weed anyways. plus these aren;t really skunky, more fruity. like pine/grape

haha! Nice, i like the whole CCOB approach, can't seem to find Hobbs' guide anymore =(. I'm a big fan of scrog, or any plant training for that matter.

So smells like grape marker, so maybe it's a sour grape? haha, nahh it's a Sloth!!

Are you going to seed the small buds or like the whole plant?

As far as CCOB, from left to right the first and the third plant look really nicely trained, but i have no experience with this soo...but anyways it looks like it served the purpose!!

Oh, and about that yield! I really can't tell from here, and since you're seeding them i don't know if that would influence on the yield, i'd guess it would. Everything influences on the yield hahah!!

I seeded the whole plants, didn;t want to deal with accidental pollination so i just said fuck it, it'll all be seeded lol

no i wont need seeds for a while, should get a good variety of phenos too

update on the plants: a few are turning purple, slightly here and there, but its coming!!
so stoked because i didn't even think there was purple in em but would make sense because of the smell

now i am thinking they are gdp x white widow x white widow or something like that. man i wish i knew the original genetics.

no matter, we'll call them Mouth and Data

Alright buds, thanks for keeping with me thus far! We are at the final stage of the Stealth File Drawer Grow Box Gen. 1, so here it is

Here's the light fixture I slapped together, its not adjustable, but with the LST i plan on doing, plants will be at different heights any ways. I used one of the metal connector bands off a dryer duct, bent it to fit the light socket, and hooked up a splitter with 2 low wattage bulbs (need to get the right color temp).

I also used Hobbes' airfloor design on my own floor, cut the temp down two degrees, not bad for just holes IMO. This is a mystery seed in the red cup, wanna name it?

Yea i took a look on that airfloor technique, real nice! And's it's so fckin easy and will give some kick-ass circulation...

Damn they stretched out all lot since last fotos! Those main colas just shot up, and you're not even using an HPS. I think they'll give you some dank bud, even though you've seeded them!

I want to do a part Sensi part seeds grow, i'd go for Rodelization...nice natural way to seed! Dude i've read that, if you use ziplock and a very fine paintbrush to take some pollen off the male, you can "paint" the buds you want to pollinate, like with 100% success...It won't get the other buds pollinated! That's what i want to do on the next strain i get, so i'll have good feminized seeds to work with, if i can't clone for some reason. Or like buy a mixed seeds packet and sensi/seed all of them...then i can started mixing the strains up!

Dude i can't name your plant!! It's your honor! But....if i would name a plant strain, i'd go for Rio bud, the name of my city of birth, and a place i really like!! Trip herb, Bobplant, Green Goblin, Acid...haha i don't know =)
