JJ from Top dawg had posted the genetics of OG Kush a few years ago. I'm trying to find the site and thread to post it here to confirm or complicate the story

**********UPDATED**********

Long storys short a gent and another went out to Amsterdam. Ordered the entire Neville's Seed catalog. He brought home $10K worth of seeds and began popping them. Few Hindu Kush testers were placed on the edge of the flowering room in a doorway, that was packed with ET... One Hindu Kush hermied and pollinated the entire room and this gent took 100% responsibility.

30lbs were estimated to have been seeded; assuming all seeded bud was separated things continued as usual. During a smoke session, while breaking up the "BT" bud a few seeds fell out. Only one was kept and grown out. It eventually made it's way back to that grower who took fault for pollinating the ET×Hindu Kush... It's been spreaded across the US like wildfire while the originator sits back and reminisces about what he did...

It's been clarified, sorted & confirmed among 2 of the biggest players in the cannabis culture & few other breeders... Big ups to "the man" for everything ;)

Some words from JJ in an interview

HIGH TIMES: When did you get into cannabis? When did you start growing? Top Dawg Seeds:
I first started growing in 1999. That was in New York City at the time. One of the very first strains I grew was a Jack Herer cut that my friend gave me; there was some other Amsterdam strains that were also given to me.

HT: When did you have access to the Chem Dog strain?
TDS: I was always in the loop since around ’92. I was getting the flower since 1992, but I didn’t start growing it until I got the Chem D cut from Chem Dog himself. I got the Sour Diesel sometime in around 2000-2001 then traded it to Chem Dog for the Chem D.

Ahhh, the Sour Diesel... Now that would be an interesting find. I'm going to keep this sperate. I think I just figured it out hehehe check your inbox!

I really don't know. It could be that they purchased all those beans. I came into the game 2011 and OGR gear was still available, but I don't remember "him" growing out his gear en masse. I sure wish I had picked up a bunch of his white crosses while they were available. I would still grow the fuck out of WiFi #43 over most any other, current hype cultivars. Fuck a cookie, give me OG!
By chance any og recommendation

@quiescent I respect and appreciate what you've told me. Taking your time to break it down with me was more than anyone would ever usually do. Thank you.

So I was directed in a direction that took me somewhere I didn't expect! Lol has anyone ever heard of the story that the Triangle Kush is really Hindu Kush×ET?...

Long story short, a gent and another went out to Amsterdam. Ordered the entire Neville's Seed catalog. He brought home $10K worth of seeds and began popping them. Few Hindu Kush testers were placed on the edge of the flowering room in a doorway, that was packed with ET... One Hindu Kush was overlooked, the Hindu Kush male pollinated the entire room and this gent took 100% responsibility.

Five lbs were estimated to have been seeded; assuming all seeded bud was separated things continued as usual. During a smoke session, while breaking up the "BT" bud a few seeds fell out. Only one was kept and grown out. It eventually made it's way back to that grower who took fault for pollinating the ET×Hindu Kush... It makes sense...Emerald Triangle x Hindu Kush... = Triangle Kush...someone just shortened the name

Having had and grown many of the old OG cuts, I can say they are all very similar but slightly different. The Socal fire og cut, to me was a bit watered down and a better yelider. Triangle was a lower yielder with a bit more OG funk. IMO the real SVF cut of OG was hands down the best OG cut that I have had in terms of quality.

I do not believe they are the same. Take that with grain of salt. They are both are from the early 90's and after exchanging hands so many times they are often mislabeled or renamed to fit whatever was popular at the time. The only way to tell for sure would be genetic testing.

I have had the wifi 43 before. It is a great plant. Packs a punch and yields good for an OG variety. But like anything crossed with the white, it loses smell and taste while packing on a noticeable visual coating in trichomes. It was one of many popped and found to be a keeper out of the bunch.

I call BS on emerald triangle x hindu kush. OG kush is no kush at all, it was just a cool name in the 90's for good weed that was coined by someone selling the buds. Real Kush is a deep chocolatey-coffee smell plant with a short structure, thick stems, and tight nodes, while OG kush is anything but.. Its a viney, tall, thin stalked plant with big spacing between the nodes that smells like new tennis balls, pinesol cleaner, with a lemony taste. 2 total different ends of the spectrum.

Believe what you wish because none of theses stories are probably 100% true. Everyone wants their claim to fame and will run with what they can to get their names coined with the hype. Triangle kush can be traced to florida in the 90's while fire was from cali at the same time. You throw in the Josh D, legend, SFV, Ghost, and a handful of others. So who knows.

One thing I do know is when breeding with OG the genes seem to be very recessive. When crossing they usually take on the structure, smell, and taste of what its being bred to. I tried for years to find a good representation of OG kush in seed form and ended up disappointed with most all breeders and seed stock. The only way to experience real OG kush is from one of the originals, though the hybrids are often good smoke, they lack true OG qualities.

ET×HK isn't OGK... It's TK....

OG.Kush stands for Original Grown Kush. You are correct it's just a slang for good bud. Definitely started out in Florida. Swamp Boyz, Rado, NSpecta etc. are aware of who was responsible for making TK. Promised not to mention more. You don't have to believe anything but i have gotten the details first hand from OTK... Read if you want...

That was another name for it in FL before it was called OG Kush
I honestly don't know much of the OGK history per say, as i was more focused on TK... Great info though! I'll see if anyone is aware of "Supernaught". OTK & I spoke more on the TK topic as I'm only aware that Josh D was given the OGK cut from that surf crew in Florida. I am in contact with one other surfer cat from that circle, who validated the TK story.

Im sorry but TK = OG kush. Its structure, smell, and taste is almost identical to any of the other OG kushes that have floated around for many years. Believe me, after being borderline obsessed, I have done countless hours of research and read every story you could think of by anyone willing to share. I will give you link a read when I have time. But there is no way its 50% hindu kush. Hindu kush being 100% landrace indica. A homogenous landrace indica would dominate any breeding. The cut of TK i had was verified and the same one that many of the people you reference has. Tall, lanky, viney. True OG kush. Many of the cats you referenced are in their late 30's or early 40's. That would put them roughly 10 to 15 years old in 1990.

I'm not here to debate or puff my chest, just giving my opinion which I have experienced first hand and running her for a good while. To the average smoker, they would not be able to tell the difference between the ghost, BTY, legend, true, SFV, josh d, TK, or any of the old school OG cuts. I have also grown real Kush's from the middle east, pakistans, hindu, and afghans. Much different in just about every way.

Now if your talking about the old cut called triangle, I cannot speak of. I have heard many stories of her too but have no experience with her at all.

I hear ya & na your good boss we're just sharing opinions. I'd like to share this, the official OGK compared to Triangle Kush... 2 completely different but similar strains. Currently, only the Florida crew can inform us the genetic make-up. Triangle (The White), Triangle Kush and OGK are all different...
