Need help on a space

Good evening all! I am currently trying to figure out how I'm going to put my 8'x 5' space to use. I was thinking a 5' x 5' tent using a 1000w hps. Growing 9 plants in 7 gallon bags in soil. Then another smaller tent for moms and clones. The good old fashion way. But this old dog wants to learn some new tricks so I figured I'd get some input from the great public of RUI.

I have also thought about going two 4' 4' each with a 600 in each. I'm willing to go either soil or hydro no real preference in anything other then would like to keep within reason on expenses

That is a pretty darn good space to work with, and I like the idea of two separated grow areas. So my initial thought is more diversified lighting, such as using some T5's to supplement the HID/HPS 400W lamp in the Flower area. This would allow you to not only get a good mix of light spectrum and not to go over the Lumans needed and that will save you a little in electricity bill. I almost think 1, 4x4 tent and a smaller tent for a mom and a small 4' x 1' shelf for seedlings.

These are only my theoretical calculations for a 4 x 4 x 6' area and others can verify please.

400HPS = 50000L
(1, 4X4)T5 = 18600L
Total Lumens = 68600
1 exaust = 230 CFM

Why only a 400 in the flower with extra light and not something bigger like a 1000 or 600 so you don't have to supplement? Due to trying to cover the color spectrum?
