Need help with my 70w HPS

So im remodeling a house and the owner and i were in the basement and we came across these lights..I asked him if i could have them and he had no idea what they were so he said yes.
(i used computer plugs the ones u use for the powersupply i cut them and wired the lights up they work and turn on..but they go on for 5 seconds then turn off for 5 seconds then turn on then of then every 5 seconds...)

Now i would like to use them in my box but i have no idea how to wire them or hang them in my box.

Any comments would help

hi m8 nice find i have to say though firstly dont fck wit electrics especially wen they gunna be runnin for most of the day wen u nt home.. get a sparky to do it 4 ya worth a few quid 2 gt sorted. also u may wanna change ya bulb if you can still gt them as its recommende that you change every grow for maximum benefit.
also do ya lights come on an off at exactly 5 secs or is it more sparadic as i the wiring may be loose?

i cant pay any one to wire it up for me where i am...and its not 5 sec like every time some times it stays on or off a lil longer..light bulbs are new also

Photocell turning it off once it gets bright? Wouldn't be the first time that has happened around here.

new bulb !! sweet!! even better a find lol obviously u double checked the wiring so i honestly dont know m8. maybe its wat he says lol. watever photocell is ? or split in the cable further down the wire, try sum new wire maybe

ok so it is turning on for 8 seconds and turning off for 11 i made a video if any one would like to see the light and how i wired it

i have a 70 watt hps from home depot that i took outta the box and wired exactly as the other one in my closet yet this one does the same exact thing your talking about! on and off on and off.... cant figure out for the life of me why!!!!!

yeah...im gana keep messin with it see if i can fix it..if any one els has any ideas please let me and Bis know.

looks like there is some kind of sensor on the bottom right ..... try waving your hand in front of it .... or covering it with your finger .... see if that will make it come on / stay on

just wired up the 2nd light and its doing the same thing only staying on longer and stayong off longer then the other one.

thank you sir as you were typing this i was doing it i put black tape over the sensor and it seems like the light is staying on..going to try it with the other one also to see how it works!

Cover up that little round photocell in the bottom right hand corner of the pic from the first post. Use a few layers of elec or duct tape.

got them bouth working now all wired up now how should i hang them...they are quite heavy..

thanks 420weedman! I am going to do more research on making remote ballast for them. They are working great now thanks for the FAST help guys. I have been flowering with cfls for 3 weeks so this will really make my plants take off!
