I have a 7.5'x4' room with a 400w hps that has served well for many years, but am now expanding to an 11' x 8' x 6.5'h room. My question is wether to go with 2-600w hps or 2-1000w hps and recommended venting for such a room, both intake and exhaust? Im leaning towards the 1000's simply because of the price and they come with vented glass hoods! Any suggestions would be great cuz right now time is of the essence, if you no what i mean!!! Thanks....oh.. P.S. the current 4x7 room is the new cloning/mother room, and the growing method in the new room is undetermined as of yet, but im leaning towards 5 gallon soiless bags or NFT... Thanks again..

Right on man! glad to hear your expanding. Im doing the same thing here real soon.
Anyway... Since you only have 6.5" of height in the new space i would do the 6's cause without being able to lift a 1k up height enough you arnt really going to be able to spread the light out to the edges evenly i dont think. so youll get hot spots in the middle. But the vented hood is a must with either a 6 or 1k. or just get 1ks anyway just in case you expaned again down the road.

I would go with the 1000s... 2kw is not too much for the new room. May I suggest using a HO 6" inline fan or an 8" if they have the connections for it, venting from 1 room ----> thru lights that are sealed ---> outside, so the air is never mixing with the room air, this is very efficient. Then run a 2nd vent just exiting the room (or just recycle the air using a carbon filter and an inline fan to constantly keep room air smelling nice. This gives you a sealed room. You could run just an exit through the lights with a carbon filter on 1 end. I would suggest a lower CFM intake fan as well at least. Several fans for moving air in the room.

thanks for the input, are the 600s truly more efficiant than the 1000's? Im really clueless to this! ive always had to be concerned about hiding what I do and now that Im legal, Im really more nervous about screwing up. Im certain that ive got the intake and ventilation figured out, and the point made about the 6-6.5' ceiling height is a very good point that I hadnt taken into consideration. So my next question would be what are the benefits and drawbacks of growing in soil-less? Ive never done anything other than outdoor and my handy-dandy turbo-flo system. I must admit that im not to familiar with the soil-less, but it seems to be efficient and cheaper than building new systems. How do the roots stay qxygenized? And will this give me the best yield?
