As many lights as you possibly can get make sure they are 6500k (daylight) bulbs. highest possible wattage you can find. 100w equivalents are really only like 26 watts and they go lower from there as far as standard light sockets go, so read carefully. most people start with the 26watt bulbs. but like i said, get as many as you possibly can, especially for 30 seeds. i'd say at least 10-15 cfl's to get adequate lighting so they don't stretch and that still might be skimpin

they can be on any light pattern you want really as long as its not like 12/12. lots of people do 18/6, some do 16/8, some do 20/4, and a lot of people also just leave the lights on 24 hours a day during veg. its up to you really. just be sure you can control the environment if you do a light schedule (temp./humidity/air circulation).

The lights should be as close to the plants as you can get them. normally about 2-3 inches from the tops of them.

No nutes for the first couple weeks at least

Get distilled water or leave tap water sitting out for 24 hours

Wow great reply ty.I will be moving them under 2 600 w hps when they are ready so just to be sure,i will need about 15 or more of the 26w cfls to start them? Also should i start the light as soon as i put them in rockwool or when the sprout?I really appreciate your help i have done alot of reasearch and reading the last 6 months and i feel i am ready to start.I have a nice room set up with an aeroflo2 top notch nutes all the meters and gadgets, but i just really want to start off right from seed and get as many of my 35 fem og kush seeds to have the best start they can have ive already put 3,500 into the setup so a little more spending to help wont hurt me.ty

for the cfl's just make sure that the top of every seedling you have planted is adequately covered with light. maybe a little more or less than 15 who knows, use your judgement.

as for when to turn the light on, i normally start the light as soon as the seed germinates and i put it in my medium and into a humidome until it sprouts fully. the reason i turn the light on right away is to create heat and humidity inside the humidome, which promotes root growth. then after its sprouted and a few days old i take them out of the humidome

Use 420nm actinic bulbs. they contain the blue spectrum of light that plants need during veg. 6500k works but higher is better. get 10000k or 20000k cfl and it will really perform. but 420nm actinic is best
