Neighbor harassing me...

I made a very bad decision to grow some MJ on the back patio, in sight of the 2nd floor neighbors window (townhouse complex), and now the neighbor is threatening me indirectly:

"I'd like to go over there and bust his face up, etc."

"He's a drug dealer"

Now, I grow SOLELY for myself and am NOT a drug dealer. The neighbor keeps harassing me though and the only reason I moved plants in was I heard him mention it before- and out of consideration for his kids (who are too young to understand what it is). He says "He took it upstairs, he's a drug dealer" out loud. I am really losing my cool here and want to address this directly, but need to calm down first.

What are my rights?

Are you a legal medical grower? If so, what can this guy do? If you aren't, like you said, you made a real bad mistake...

Never had a single altercation with him. He's one of these do-gooders who thinks hes ridding the world by condemning marijuana. To him, its a drug- just like cocaine, meth, etc and all drugs are bad. Very simple world view. What I've done since my post is be extremely quiet, close all my windows and shades, and just trying to get off his radar. I can always hear him putting his head up to the wall and listening in to see if he can hear the fans or lights (1 fan, 1 400watt MH), etc. It's very unnerving. He's definitely making me extremely uncomfortable and he's telling neighbors I'm a drug dealer now.

He also says out loud: "He didn't get rid of them, he took them inside" etc. He's just on some kind of mission to get me busted. I think he also might be a cop. I heard him talking one afternoon about "cops going to bars and getting drunk being a problem, because they carry their weapons", etc. I'm not sure if it's a scare tactic or if he's a cop. I have way too much invested in my grow to abandon it. Nowhere to take them either.

I want to tape record him making these threats and catch it on video for legal purposes. One thing I do know (from prior roommates is he has marital difficulties and maybe I think he might be projecting his anger onto me)

There was also had an asian woman (who looks like an apartment manager, well dressed, etc.) knocking on my door asking for directions. I think they are trying to feel out the situation, but I havn't heard anything since then. I'm afraid to even walk out onto back patio. Sometimes when I do I can hear the mother or caretaker say "get inside now" to the children when I do walk outside. What am I? A pot grower pedophile? It's just crazy...

I realize growing outside was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I didn't think people would get their panties in a bunch over a couple seedling sized plants. I was experimenting at the time and wanted to know how they would fare compared to indoor but I learned my lesson. I also feel its passed the point where I want to even address it directly with a note or face-to-face. Someone who makes verbal threats unprovoked is in my book beyond reconciliation.

I suspect the next move is for them to find some reason to walk into the house (the managers) for some unrelated issue (electrical, plumbing, etc.) and attempt to go snooping. Yes I do have a license.

There's one last thing, maybe he heard me watching porn one day on computer and thinks I'm a perv (it gets lonely without my gf) - (since he's an avid eaves dropper), I know he's eaves dropping because the floorboards creak when you walk around, you can estimate how close someone is by the louder the sound gets, and also you can hear the weight up against the wall as if someone is bracing themselves. I've had thoughts maybe he belongs to some Scientology cult or some extreme fundamentalist religious sect to explain his behavior, or maybe he has listening devices on the wall.. I wouldn't put anything past him. I just want my "space" back and if I have to take him to court to do that, I will.

Fuck the likes of him. I'd go in his face buy a flag with a cannabis leaf on it, and OVERGROW THE WORLD sloganned on it, fly it in the backyard. then sit on the porch playing bob marley songs and watching cheech and chong movies at high volume.

i think you may be paranoid. You still havent answered whether your grow is legal. if it is ignore him. If its not move or get rid of your plants.
if you hear any talk directed at you contact the landlord/property manager and get it on record that this guy is harassing you.
At least that way when they find your headless body theyll have somebody to look at

dude, your neighbor sounds like real bag of used douche fluid. next time you catch him with his ear to the wall, figure as best you can where he is and smack your side with something that will ring his bell.

If you're legal, which you said you have a license. The next question is, are you renting or own? If you're renting then you need to check your lease to make sure their is not an MJ clause about growing.

if he continues to make your name infamous you may be able to sue him (It's fucking murica)

I would take this as a (peace/break bad) kinda situation. Everybody likes money, offer some for him to STFU, and stop talking about it PERIOD. to anyone... even if u have to cut into profit.
If that does not work, (usually money talks) I would say either a) break it really bad on this mother fucker and stick him in a snake pit in mexico in spite of any children, hes dumb.

I would keep an eye out for road-kill. Whenever you find a dead dog or cat that isn't so mangled that you cant bag it up, get it, and put the dead animal on his door step.

The scariest fucking person i can think of is someone that will take any verbal punishment, and simply smile, even maybe wink at him... He will realise his tactics are not under your skin (even if they are)... and in the mean time, just kill stuff or find dead shit and put it on his door step... eventually he will get the note. (if hes smart, he backs off) and if he doesn't your smart and either (make this guy a missing person case before he blabs too much about his neibor, if you do, take you plants inside while detectives are around, legal or not, they don't stink that bad till smoked). OR you MOVE away from this fucking jeopardy where you sleep/grow at...

I would be shocked if your neighbor has any balls. If the door is not safe for dead animal deliverys, you could always mail it to him, or throw it into his yard or place it on their cars. Just depends on the set up you have.

The plot thickens. It just so happens that I live in a 3 bedroom apartment- one unit is separated by a patio area. The single units occupant happens to be gay and is coming home misc partners 1, 2am. Well they decided to toke it up and are throwing around "marijuana" loosely. This whole grow is shit- basically my neighbors can choose to call the cops based on my "other" roommates behavior. Would police, in a search, be allowed into the entire apartment... This never ends. I have to cough and make noises to let my neighbor know I'm not involved in this foray- but this looks like my roommate can basically hand my ass to cops on silver platter.

Go a few states over, buy a handgun, next time he comes around, pistol whip him like 10 times, and ask him if he still wants some of.the big bad drug dealer.

just kidding. while its nice to dream of, simply agrivate him until he makes good on his threats. then defend yourself. and make a fucking point. if someone was saying they were coming to attack me, id wait by the fence until they came down, and id just keep pissing him off until he comes into my yard. even here in canada, if someone intends to do you harm you can twist thier shit up.

I understand your point of view but I don't believe that in California, a state that deems it legal to grow for your own personal use why it should be a big deal to grow a few plants back on porch? People don't have to agree with it and it might offend some, but why should I have to keep it out of sight. People need to ACCEPT marijuana, like they accept caffeine in their coffee every morning, or the Ritalin they put in their children's mouth. It is legal to do it, so why should I be afraid to let others to see it- they're free to go get a license also if they need it. Everyone seems like a spokesman for big pharma these days. Where are my rights anyway? It's ok for a neighbor to harass and threaten me but its not ok to legally grow a plant? wtf is wrong with people. At the same time, I can see by some of these statements some of you have anger management issues and/or are a bit defensive. I'm not going to leave dead animals on the guys porch, I'm not a violent person and don't see eye-for-eye as a solution. I just want these people to understand there is nothing wrong with growing marijuana- as long as its done responsibly, and kept moderately discreet- by discreet I don't mean locked up in a dungeon somewhere but just low-key position in yard and not obvious.

I think efforts should be made to push for legalization in California. I think the first objective should be de-criminalization, and then making it legal.

No tell, no sell, no smell. In other words hide your grow so your life goes smoother. Unless you have the money to pay big time attorney's it doesn't matter what your rights are. Life is to short to share your shit with your neighbors. Oh this will get worse. Frankly I'd move and be more discreet in my new location.

As to your rights it depends but your rights are only as good as the attorney who represents you.
