I have never grown before and am thinking about the aerogrow, anyone have opinions on it? Also, when do you know if they are male or female and which plant do I want?

You defenitly want the females.
I would recomend starting in soil if your new to this. It's really simple and it can have dramatic reslts.
As for determing if a plant is a boy or girl. That is dependent on the light cycle. 12 hours on/12 hours off will stimulate flowering in a mature mj plants.
Search the old posts here and check out the growfacts and stickys. They will answer most of your questions.
