beautiful setup!!! NICE plants bro!
thanks jweedy! hope the girls turn out well in the end.

wicked job NS! hope the removal of the undergrowth works wonders for ya

another things is you should move any large fan leaves out of the way of bud sites, if your buds dont get direct light they will be tiny and fluffy, thats why a lot of people do trim the undergrowth right off id imagine, although tucking the leaves behind branches works great too which is what i recommend u try.
thanks hookedonchronic. i hope the trimming below helps too. too bad there's no easy way for me to gauge this. as for the removing of large fan leaves... thanks for that tip. i remember reading about that in the past, but never did it. tonight, i gave it a shot... trimmed away a few major fan leaves while bending a few more to allow for lower branches to poke through.

Yeah! I am very excited about you using Bush Master Never. I think I will have to invest in a bottle of it as well after following you and Jig using it with success. Just got caught up on your journal after your recent updates this past week. Its a bitch traveling and growing aint it? I travel for about a week at a time here and there for business too, and its a damn balancing act. I like your method though with diluting the rez and raising the light a bit, and will be using it this January on my next trip so thankya much sir!

So far, I'm really happy with Bushmaster. Both the SLH and MK have stopped stretching. Yeah, traveling sucks while you're growing. A) You're worried about nute burning your plants. and B) You're worried about burning your plants and your house down. It's not pets where you can call and get a pet sitter. Unless marijuana becomes legal, then I guess you can call your pot sitter?

So two things to keep in mind with my method. First, don't raise the lights too high. You don't want to accidentally stretch your plants too much. I actually was preparing for my trip by watching the day-to-day growth, so I knew how much to raise the lights. Also, I'm still new a growing, so I don't know how lowering the ppm like that for more than a few days will affect the growth.

I've been doing a lot of homework on HCO's Purple Maxx and going to change my original plan from the other day.

For those who aren't familiar with Humboldt County's Own Purple Maxx, it is supposed to do one and/or two things:
- For all plants, it will increase crystalization
- For certain strains, it will turn your plants into a dark purple.

The problem you read about over and over again with Purple Maxx is that people have killed entire crops with this super juice. It significantly increases your plants' nute intake so you can burn the crap and/or kill your plants very easily. Not only that, but I have yet to read about anyone successfully adding this to reservoirs in Hydro set-ups. They only recommend foliar feeding.

Okay, so with all that said, I'm going to take a little adventure with Purple Maxx. Here's my plan...

Bushmaster definitely worked and the plants have stopped stretching. They have remained the exact same height since using BM on Saturday night. The plants didn't burn at all and seem healthy and have really taken off with flowering. With the plants flowering so heavily, I'm going to introduce them to Purple Maxx on Friday (if it weren't Thanksgiving tomorrow, I'd start tonight).

For the Master Kush and Super Lemon Haze, I will continue adding only plain pH adjusted water to the reservoirs (originally said I would add more nute soup to increase the ppm). With the White Widow, I will actually drain some of the reservoir and top it off with pH adjusted water in order to drop the ppm. I want the ppm for all three to be around 700 ppm, max.

From what I've read, it sounds like 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) of Purple Maxx per gallon is a good start. So I will go with this amount and do a foliar feed after the reservoir is changed. I will be monitoring the girls closely from Saturday through early next week and will be prepared to flush if it looks like I'm burning the plants.

A bit of a lengthy post, but like I said, I am really scared of using Purple Maxx and killing my girls. Any feedback from anyone who have used PM is more than welcome.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Sorry I will use the excuse that I am high, but just to be clear, you are saying that you are foliar spraying with the 1/2 teaspoon per gallon mix, but no root zone application right?

Well there's no looking back now. Purple Maxx is in. Yeah, I'm probably starting a little early, as from what I've read, the earliest most people start is during the third week of flowering.

I dropped the reservoirs to about 500 ppm, though HCO recommends dropping to 750-900 ppm. I'm just going a bit lower just to be safe and I will raise as I top the res off. I then misted the leaves with a mixture of 2.5 ml per gallon of Purple Maxx. Turned the fans off and blocked the lights as I sprayed them, you don't want to get any water on the HID bulb while it's on.

I plan on spraying the girls again in 7-10 days.

I also accidentally snapped one of the White Widow's branch... hope it still has a chance of budding. Also, the Master Kush Buds look incredibly better than the buds from my first grow. They look like little bushes on my plant. And it's amazing how different the buds look on all three strains.

Here are some pics... notice no crystals at all.

2. Master Kush
3. Super Lemon Haze

cool, good to see u experimenting with your grow
cant wait to see some new pics of your 3 beauties
yo hooked, check out some pics above. and as for foliar feeding, yeah, foliar feeding is the recommended method. i do have great circulation in my cabinet so i don't expect it to be a problem. thanks for the look out though.

exactly, it's amazing how little of it i used. though the bottle says you can use in hydro (though not recommended) w/o an aerator, from everything i've read online, foliar is simply the better method when growing in hydro.

and dude, no excuse necessary... i bet a lot of us are baked when we're on here. if not, at least i am right now. :bigjoint:: bongsmilie:

Be warned ladies and gents, Purple Maxx seriously is as potent as they say it is. My plants are showing signs of nute burn!

Keep in mind, HCO's recommended feeding calls for 2.5 - 5 ml per gallon of Purple Maxx while dropping your reservoir's ppm by 1/3, aka having your ppm at around 750 - 900 ppm. I used 2.5 ml of Purple Maxx and dropped my ppm to 500.

Everything they say online is true, be careful with this stuff!

Really random question... does anyone know if female marijuana plants emit anything that may cause allergies? I have seasonal allergies in the spring and fall, but by now, they are usually gone. When I'm out of my place, I'm fine. Once I come home, my allergies hit me on hard... itchy eyes, congestion... I can't think of anything except for the plants. but they're female so they can't be emitting pollen.

I'm in need of some help fellas. Take a look at the pic below, my Supr Lemon Haze's sugar leaves are curling in big time. I searched around and could not find a clear cut answer.

Other than the leaves curling, the girls are doing well. Flowers are growing visibly larger every day. The SLH and MK both picked one primary trunk while the White Widow chose two. Take a look at the site so far.

And Purple Maxx definitely did something. I noticed small crystals on the bud and sugar leaves... just two days after using Purple Maxx.

1. The girls - take a look at the curling of the middle plant
2. Master Kush
3. Super Lemon Haze - again, notice the curling
4. White Widow

Hey bud. I can't say for sure what's causing 'the claw' but I can tell you it won't kill anything. I had some of that going on with my Sour Grape this grow, and it went away. It's funny you can still see the curled leaves between the nice leaves.

Treat them good from here on out and it should be ok.

My guess is pH fluctuation... or pH too high. Could be something with the spray too, but I'm not sure.

They are looking great by the way.

yea tips are burnt as well it looks like in that pic, 75% sure its nute problems or pH

not fresh in my mind but downward curling= nutes/pH issues
and upward curling means they are thirsty? havent read about that in ages
