New 400W HPS!

Got my new 400W HPS air cooled light today! Will be adding plants as soon as they germinate. Can't wait to see the difference to my 8 year old 250W light.

Gonna have 2 plants with roots organic soil, fox farm tiger bloom, big bloom, grow big, open sesame, beastie bloomz, cha ching, bush doctor, kanga roots, and sledge hammer. Last run got me 47g's off one plant and 29 off the one I topped(I really messed this one up, but brought it back mostly), so hoping to do even better.

Don’t use sledgehammer, there’s a good chance it will screw-up your plants permanently.

I just gotta new 400w too, pretty sweet... I should've sprung for the air cooled... Your ladies will love it!

I as well am a new member of the 400w hps club...been rocking mine since last thursday...so what, like 5 days? Got so excited when it came in the mail, I switched the girls to 12/12 five days ahead of schedule! I did not get air cooled either, but it don't matter, I have no place good to vent it!

Yeah even with the air cooled hood I'm running about 98 right now. WTF! I need to see what I can do. I hope I dont need a new exhaust fan also....

Get a cooltube and duct the hot air outside, the hood doesnt work. A 400 is a strong light that can get warm as youve found out. Get temps down to 75-80 or your harvest will be poor and the 400 wasted.

I used sledgehammer last spring and it basically ruined my plants. I googled “Sledgehammer” and found I wasn’t the only one who had a bad experience. There should be a warning label that reads: “You must grossly over fertilize your plants for three weeks following the use of this product or they’ll die.”

I had prefect plants one week into flowering when I used Sledgehammer as instructed. About two weeks later they had developed a leave killing bout of nitrogen deficiency. The plants were losing both paired and alternating leaves. And three weeks after using this product came a bout of magnesium deficiency that I could never get under control. Not only does Sledgehammer lockup nutrients fast, I’m sure it continues to do so for God knows how many weeks following its’ use.



A note: The only differences between this grow and all my previous grows was Sledgehammer.

I got a question for u since you were a previous 250HPS owner. I was recently thinking of buying a 250. do you think that will be good enough for a 3x2.5x6 feet high wardrobe. Also did you use the hps for vegg and flowering?

That is the size of my tent also and the light was good, just not great. I got 47g's off my good plant and it was awesome, but I want them even denser. And yes I used it for 2-3 weeks of veg and the rest 12-12.

Oh and the heat wave here in southern cali has made the temp control hell. I'm just waiting for the heat to die down so the a/c can keep the room cool. End of the week probably. My buddy has "BlueCheese" and "LemonHaze" clones for me. Yeah!
