I have a 400 watt apollo set up and I recently got a new ballast for it because about a month or so ago I woke up and went to check on my tent and my light was off and it should've been on so red flag. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and the light would flicker for a quick sec then go out. I tried with different bulbs and similar results either it was that result or it would do nothing. One of the bulbs was new so I know it's not the bulb so I got a new ballast since the last one was still under warranty and the ballast is brand new and yesterday I tried to run my light and same thing happened the light tried to turn on but didn't. PLEASE HELP I got some babies under cfls and they want more light.

Sounds like you replaced the wrong part. It happens when trouble shooting. Sounds like you need to check your hood out. The socket for the bulb could have burnt up or you could have a short somewhere in the line leading up to it. Try a different one if you can to see if it works on a different hood

Thanks for the reply BigJim. I'll have to expect the hood later tonight to see if I can see anything abnormal I guess? And I found another apollo hood online I can buy for cheap I just really want to fix the one I have and not have to buy anything else.

Understandable it gets expensive quick. I bought a cheap one as a back up just Incase so I don’t have any down time. I paid less than 30 on amazon for just the hood. It’s not one I will run all the time but it will get me through a week or two as needed

Yes it does lol and I have a 600 watt apollo set up but thats in the tent for the ladies and the 400 was for the babies lol. Itll take about a week to get a new hood pn amazon for me cuz its not prime eligible(bs) lol you think 5 seedlings will do okay for a week under four 23 watt cfls?

I found another hood on amazon that is prime that I should be able to use its not an apollo but it should work with any digital ballast. It'll only take a few days to come!

it's not hard to rewire a hood, it's just a light socket in a big box.
there's usually a threaded plastic ring holding the cord in place, and a couple of screws. get them loose, and the socket should just pop out.
