If you want lights to use for veg and flower that would be CMH. Otherwise, get 5000k+ for veg and 2100-2700k for flower

CMH? ill look into it. what is their kelvin rating? CMH is a metal metal halide? probably gets really hot, yeah?..i would need a whole new rig then.

right now i have a mix of 6400k and 2700k hung. since im buying new bulbs, i just want to have one that can be good for veg and flower. im just cooling with a fan pointed at the ballasts.

if i were to just buy some more powerful fluorescent, should i go with 4100k or 5000k? 6400+2700/2= 4550, but im thinking maybe the 4100 will be better overall?

i want that 400 in your signature some day.

Ballasts, what are you talking about? CFL's have built in ballasts. CMH is ceramic metal halide. It's an HID bulb so yes it gets hot and you'd need a legit setup to cool it. Listen to what I said. Don't argue, don't debate.

5000k-6500k for veg
2100k-2700k for flower

look up one post

and dynamics of gas's and the light they emit under charge in a closed environment is not needed knowledge to buy a bulb, thats homework

the spectrums of par light that work best for each cycle is known information and is what the topic of the thread is about

all on page one . . . done.

a 5000k is a 2700k flouro with more green yellow producing phosphors with the blue phosphors of 6500k. 5000k is better than both 6500k and 2700 for any stage of growth.

as for combining i would do something like say for veg a 6500k and a 5000k then for flower 5000k and 2700k if i was using cfl.

What about MH? I was thinking of going with a 6500k MH this time around instead of the 5100k. I'm not sure if it's worth spending 30 bucks on a lamp with minimal effect.

mh is a whole nother story. 5000k-to about 4100k are complete bullshit MH putting of a ton of yellow and green useless light.

the best MH offering the most par values ive seen are some of 3000k-4000k , and the 6000k-10000k. i personally would like to get a 7500k for veggin where i to veg under a mh and a 4000k for flowering.

so wait, polyarcturus, are you correct, or that chart that someone made? will 5000k have enough visible light across the whole spectrum for veg and flower, or should i stick to buying 2700k and 6400k separately?

i know that cars that come with factory oem hids have a rating of 4300k, and they look damn white to me. is a white light a good light for both flower and veg?

i have nine spots for bulbs. currently, i have 5 2700s hanging and 4 6400s

i would like to buy 9 bigger 5000k if thats possible?

well, if a bulbs visible waves are white, i figure it has a perfect mix of oranges and blues, and its not green! haha :p

5000k is the best bulb period.

that chart really has nothing to with 5000k it has to with PAR, google 5000k fluorescent spectrum should be able to find the proper chart. if it where me i wouild mix 5000k with 2700k for flower, or just use 5000k.

wait, but according to that chart, 5k is less usable than 6k+? but then again, the sun is around 5k, so wouldnt that be the best?
