Glocks and AR's are restricted weapons in Canada, that cannot be used for hunting, even on your own property. Restricted weapons include ALL hand guns, and military style longs. You have to have restricted firearm training and hold a valid license to purchase. All restricted serials have to be registered with the Feds. These weapons can only be used at firing ranges with designated restricted status. You CAN NOT protect yourself in your home with a firearm of ANY kind. If you shoot an intruder with a gun, not only will you be charged with multiple gun offences, but you leave yourself liable to lawsuit for damages by the intruder (or his/her estate if you were a good shot).

Dude you are very wrong about being able to protect yourself. The laws states that you can only use enough force required to flee. Anything more than that you will be charged. Shit even if your dog bites an intruder you will be charged and your dog put down. We have zero castle laws in canada.
100% true!

My brother in law is RCMP, I've had this discussion many time. I asked him about defending your home with a shotgun with non lethal rounds (rubber or bean bags). If I shot an intruder in my home I would be charged with a more serious offence than the intruder, lethal round or not. His advice was to have a base ball bat and mitt handy in your house and vehicle. Your better off defending your self with a bat than a gun, the mitt nearby will defer the intent that your primary use for the bat is defence.

Ps I own several restricted and non restricted firearms.

Why does anyone need a Glock 19 or a AR 15 for hunting? Hey GB????????
The lack of knowledge in this comment is beyond stupendously retarded. You cant pistol hunt in canada. Not only that, its not a pistol made for hunting. An AR15 is typically chambered in .223 and .308. Both of which are commonly used in hunting rifles.

So other than the visual aethestics of the rifle, it COULD be used for hunting(just not in Canada) as its not an automatic rifle.Youd look like a fucken knob though

Also its a restricted weapon in Canada meaning theyre less prevelant than the states,so theres that. Anything else?

WoW Canada is like that......glad Texas isn't...we have the loses gun laws in the US some might say..if a person comes into you house you allowed to shoot first and ask questions later, Oklahoma is prolly second, there was a resent report that a teenager shoot 3 intruders in his house with an AR-15, he didn't get charged one bit, but the driver of the get away car got charge with 1st degree

You guys also have the highest rate of accidental gun deaths in the US. Nevermind intentional. So i guess we all have our problems. I agree you should be able to defend your home and family. What good is following that law if you wind up dead because you werent allowed to shoot the fucker trying to kill you

Most AR varrients are restricted, you can't hunt with them. Caliber is irrelevant it's the action and barrel length of the firearm that restricts them, not how they look.

these are my scary looking firearms , all non restricted. I wouldnt think for a second to hunt with them.IMG_0630.JPGIMG_0165.jpg DSC_0001.jpg

we also have an open carry law too, which basically mean we can carry a side arm around, now there are a few place where we can't, but in most cases we can, we can also carry across county lines as well. There are a few cities that I know of personally, that when you get yoru drives lisence, you also get your gun liscense too. Sorry for the spelling

If you shoot somebody in your house you will be arrested and charged. Period. Whether your convicted of a crime is a different story, that's up to a judge not the police. The RCMP have no choice but to arrest you and investigate the case.

actually in Texas its up to the DA to charge you with any crime, if it even has been commited. The current one we have one record is when some broke in and tried to run away, the home owner shot and killed the guy, he laid the pistol down on the ground aited for the police, he was sent to jail for a while but after the DA sought no charges cause of self defense and the protection of property.

Bottom line is a firearm should be your last resort, if you shoot somebody with a gun regardless of situation you will have a legal situation. But if you beat them over the head with a bat your good to go.

FYI, I won't bring a bat to a gun fight, I would take my chances with the judge. Reality is most B n E's aren't committed with a firearm in Canada,

ill take my chances and would let them leave without being shot !! (:
as I said..legal in cannada makes it nearly impossible to use a gun in self defense
locked and amo separate, makes it that way!!
