New changes to the law - or is my dr crazy?

I just got a call from the dr I visisted for my last renewal. She said there has been changes to the law and explained them to me as follows:

1. The renewal period is now good for 2 years instead of 1
2. I need to get paperwork from my original doctor specifically listing what my qualifying condition is

I tried to talk with her, but she is bat shit crazy. I almost walked out of my appointment last year because she was so abrasive, but stuck it out because I knew it would be easier to get her to sign off than to find another dr at that point. But she struck me as a real asshole, was very rude and condescending, and seemed very ignorant about marijuana and medicine in general. But anyway...

Why do I need to go back to my original family doctor to get my original paper work concerning my chronic pain when she already has it? I had to bring it to them in 2011 when I got my card (from a different dr). They also had the same paperwork in 2012 when I went to the same clinic (but saw her instead of original dr) for renewal. So why does she need it now? I can't get anything more than what I already brought to them in 2011, so i'm not sure what she is talking about.

If I have to go through the trouble of tracking down my original family doctor and obtaining the same friggin records she already has, then I am going to go to a different clinic for renewal.

Anyone else had an experience like this? I am bummed out because now I have to track my original dr down (they moved offices since then) and get my records faxed over. Maybe I should just call a new clinic and have them take care of the records for me?

I just renewed and they asked me to bring in my medical records. If they already have them on file then I'm not sure why they would ask for them again. Probably just being overly cautious.

If you're close to AA then First Natural Wellness Center is a good spot to go. $70 renewals, friendly staff

I think many Doctors were a bit lax n the past with keeping previous medical records and now she is backtracking to cover her ass for not keeping proper records in the first place .. Maybe not but it does sounds like so to me man !

I know she had them last year. I saw them. They moved offices a second time between my appointments, not sure if that has anything to do with misplaced records.

I did find and read the 3 additional laws that were passed too. I just can't figure out how providing my original records again will satisfy the medical records criteria any more. I don't even remember the specific dates of the visits of the records I need. I need some medical marijuana for this pain in my ass.

Gotcha , sorry to hear of this dilemma . As well its note worthy that many who assist and work with the clinics are sometimes too medicated themselves to be doing the job or they are just stupid lol . I fear this too may be used against us as no pot doctors that I know of use a medical administration team professionally . Its either some random shop owner or some club member helping out nine times out of ten and in the end most places I visited were piss poor cert centers , no names mentioned .

The administration people I dealt with looked like they are regular medication users, but they all acted professional as far as I could tell.

The dr did not look like a medical user, and even told me she hasn't ever done it. My impression of her was that she was a terrible doctor that was forced do work in a clinic because she didn't have the skills or know how to run a real practice, or work for someone who runs a real practice, but legally she is still allowed to sign off on medical marijuana applications. She seemed very ignorant about marijuana and it's uses, almost as if all her information came from a single page pro-marijuana pamphlet.

I would certainly prefer not to go back to her so I don't have to deal with her or listen to her, but if my alternative was to obtain my records myself and seek out another doctor...well I would have just dealt with her for convenience. I am really not going to get solid medical advice. I have a real family doctor for that. I just need her to sign off on my medical application, and that's it. Anything beyond that should just be her covering her ass to prove we have a "bona-fide" doctor-patient relationship. Oh well, I guess I will be moving on and finding another clinic.

The crazy thing is that my injury is not really an injury anymore, it's completely healed, but I have no other documented qualifying conditions so I am forced to use it again.

I am also interested in more info on this. The clinic I go to, alternative solutions, is requesting medical records from my doctor, when all I have is record of going to physical therapy for the tear in my rotator cuff. My other condition is migraine headaches, which has never been documented, as over the counter remedies (in high doses) were always the easy "go to" in the day and age of high insurance premiums. I've kept a good log of pain and the effects of medical cannabis for my pain, sending the sheets in to the clinic every other month. Does anyone know what exactly they are looking for?

Dr. Bob and I never had a problem even after 4 years. I know the opinions of some but he is straight up legit and keeps everything on file, always has. My .02

I don't feel like looking it for the exact wording but part of the new additions to the law requires a bona fide doctor / patient relationship. My doctor explained this as meaning regular check ups to be sure the mmj is doing the trick, as least more than once a year.

The 2 year cards are legit.

What you are seeing is that practices that previously didn't require records or treat this like a real medical visit are having to actually follow good medical procedures.

We've always required records and done things correctly, so we don't have any of these problems, nor do our patients.
