As for curiosity what would the efficiency of the last 3 suggestions be? the 4 1825s, 10 1212s, and 4 1212s at 25W

per citi calculator (roughly, guessing at temps):
1825@85W = 161 lm/W
1212@35W = 158 lm/W
1212@25W = 165 lm/W

i didnt know it but there was a gen 6 citizen catalog hiding in the box of cobs i just got

i still dont know release date but i think the january they mentioned is realistic. catalog is complete with part numbers and specs for all models

theres some cool stuff in here! will make a thread when i get a chance with some scans

nothing earth shattering, the line we like is just getting some improvements, ~5%.

without knowing pricing or delivery i wouldnt wait. i learned my lesson on that when cree was supposed to have new bins in may and new cobs in august!

I wouldn't waste your time using intel fans and active cooling. Passive cooling is so much nicer. The SST120's would be perfect for those cobs at that current. Pre-drilled and ready to go as seen HERE.
$90+shipping vs $8 for fan ballast and $20 of fans, wagos and wire.. $105 vs $35 or so. Active is arguably better.. Unless fan stops to work, lol.

I DO intend to build a few passive.. But active is cheaper. And fans have yet to fail on me.. I had a couple get loud (they were used)- But i just replaced em..

What heatsink do you use the fan with?

Actually I didn't notice the 'HPS' cob. Thats pretty cool.

Is that thew first time a one of the big makers marketed a cob for horticulture?

they have the CLU550s in the catalog and look like they are still the same gen 4s. but this CLU551 has the lowest Rj-c ive seen

if only we could get some decent prices on cobs an heatsinks up here in Canada!!

Yes, 2 HLG-240H-C1400B drivers. I wouldn't get too hung up on spectrum and cri, you're talking about such a tiny variable that it hardly makes any difference. 3000k or 3500k are both equally good.

I hear you about the prices in Canada. This is why I went with gen 6 cobs. They will grow just as good as any of the newer cobs, it will just cost me a fraction more money to run them. In BC we pay 12 cents per kilowatt hour so using the gen 6 was a no brainer for me. I think they were maybe $30 a cob from Digikey. Looks like the gen 7's are $35-$45 but they are about the best cob you can buy at this moment, anywhere.

It's definitely cheaper. To me, the extra money is worth the piece of mind and also fan noise really adds up and I like to keep things as quiet as possible. If someone is on a tight budget then active is the way to go.

I will be aiming for both optimum PPFD as well as efficiency >50% or more...

my once flowering cabinet/room is 5ft (W) x 2 ft (D) x 6.5ft (High), growing scrog style

my other flowing space is a small 2.0ft (W) x 20'' (D) x 8.5 ft high


id go for 30-35W/SF and theres a number of ways you can do it

youd need 350W for the first space and about 100 for the second

in the large space id do either 4 x citi 1825s (85W each), or 10 citi 1212s at 35W each

and 4x citi 1212 @ 25W each in the smaller space

im into 3000k now over 3500k. I think I agree with @Rahz who thinks it creates more leaf mass in veg. (may be anecdotal but i like my results ;))

Thanks again for the help, i forgot to mention also i am looking for something that will work with my current 4x4 scrog that i am about to flower would the 4 1825s or 10 1212 be enough to light the 4x4 area for this 4x4 grow before. I unfortunately have to make my flower room smaller after this grow hence the 5 ft x 2 ft flower room that i will be building after this is done, what i am ultimately trying to find is a set up that will be powerful enough to illuminate the 4 x4 space and then downsize to the 2 x 5 room?

any thoughts,

12 cents a kWh, i wish! 23.6cents here in saskatchewan
