New Grower Looking to Setup Grow Tent in Garage

The only reason I plan on using the AC infinity set is to track my temp hum and vpd and control it. Do you think a vivosun kit would be reliable enough?
I'm a believer in the AC Infinity fan/controller it's so convenient. You can definitely cheap out on the tent.

I would buck up and get these lights though...you'll get much better coverage and an extra 110 watts. Your plants will thank you.

for 420 you can get an xs 1500 for only like 65. so 2 for like ~130. Would I need to get two of the hlg for good coverage in a 2x4? Might just be a little out of my price range.

Initially I was going to get the 2x4 AC infinity tent because it was 6 ft compared to the 5 ft vivosun when i was working in less limited height of the garage. I have just seen some different feelings towards 60" tall tents. This is my first grow and I'm using autos so honestly I could definitely survive with the 60" vivosun tent with the ac inf filter.
60” tent will be more than enough even for photoperiod strains. I know… Do like 3-4 plants.

edit: ditch the autos:lol:

You would not as the light has two quantum boards on a rectangular heat sink so they are built for a rectangular growing space. It a quality company and a better light IMHO. Yes, it will cost more but lights (and soil) are where you want to put your money.

More than one way to skin a cat though.

EDIT TO ADD: Looking at the HLG light I recommended again I noticed it's not their normal Rspec spectrum but skewed even further to the red and lower on the blue and as such probably not a great veg light...but super for flower. Because of that I'm going to rescind my recommendation. Not for HLG, just that model specifically. I'm sorry I didn't notice earlier. I still think it would work but as a new grower you should stick to a full cycle spectrum light.

Thank you guys for the info! I think the HLG is the move then honestly. It mentions that it is not recommended for veg and this is gonna be my only light. Do you think I will have any issues?

I run an HLG Veg Pro 250 watt for my seedlings and it's a bit of overkill for my 2x4x8 tent but it gives me the ability to veg if I need to.

I like the red too.

And you can trust HLG's numbers, I'm not really sure about budget light companies numbers for PPFD, efficiency etc.
HLG knocked it out of the park for me on a warranty issue. My light was still functional so they sent me the brand new light (new version) and included everything it comes with (retail boxing etc...) and even paid return shipping so I simply packed up my old light and mounted the new with zero hiccups and not one down day. They are great.

I veg under my Scorpion Diablo X which has an even larger red spike. You'll be fine.

Awesome it looks like HLG is the move. Thank you guys for the info. My Setup is starting to take some real shape now. Hopefully start growing next week. Gonna try my best to keep a diary on here. Also thank you to everyone else in this thread, tons of great info and help!

What's your growing medium? Have you checked your cities water report?

@Rufus T. Firefly It looks like they also have 100 W of the normal Rspec on the site refurbished. Do you think 2 of those for 200 would be better or the 260W one? I guess probably the 260 because more watt less money and red skew doesnt matter.

I had a Mean Well driver go bad that was way out of warranty and they sent me a new one no questions asked. They are awesome.

You'll want to know about chlorine/chloramines and Ph mostly. I just moved to the city and whilst I never had a problem with water before, I do now that's to our medieval infrastructure. It's probably fine right out of the tap but you should know if it is or isn't. My Ph is 9.2 out of the tap and that's a goocher.

Dry amendments are going to take min. of a couple of weeks to become available so plan ahead. I would guess you probably have maybe a month-ish until your blend starts to run on empty. Weed is a heavy feeder.

my current plan is to wait a month ish off the soils nutes and then top dress with the dr earth home grown + ewc for veg, 50/50 homegrown and flower girl + ewc early flower, and flower girl and ewc for flowering and do that every 2-3 ish weeks based on the how they do. credit to another user on here

edit: added timing
