I built my grow room without really knowing what to go by. It ended up being 8x8 by 8'3 ceiling, Lights: XXXL Xtreme 8" hood with 1K watt HPS, with a 1k watt switchable magnetic ballast, I have to get some type of exhaust fan that will work, and some panda film I think. any positive input on my room would be great. its -2 degrees outside this morning, what is a good cool temp for root level? good start! for a cheap efficient exhaust fan you can rig up a harbor freight blower for under $70...pulls 300cfm like a champ...would work great with a carbon filter.

Now my grow room is in a big non insulated shop, my room is insulated but still pretty cold, unless I put another small heater in there that blower will take all the hot air in the room out, actually its just warm but that heater is working its ass off and I haven't even got the blower yet, should I just by a small exhaust for the room? Im in the Spokane area what about you?

I use a quartz heater I bought at walmart My room started in a building just like yours ...With the 1000W HPS my heater kicks on very little...it was 15F here last night and my room was 73F...Some insulation board on your walls and ceiling will go a long way.

Looks like you're up to a good start. The first thing that came to my mind was why you didn't take advantage of all that space and throw 2 or 3 ( or 6) lights up? anyway.. If temps are really cold at night you should run your light at night, say 7 pm to 7 am, that way during the coldest part of the evening, the light will warm up the room a little. This also helps in summer when we get those hot days. If the light runs at night you will save money cooling the space, guaranteed. I think that if you seal the room with some panda film it will help it keep heat in the grow room, and the cold outside. There is a manufacturer that makes wall mounted heating fans. Very similar to a wall mounted fan, in concept. They oscillate, have diff heat levels, etc. I can't find the link right now(google it). You generally do not want the room to get below 60 degrees fahrenheit. You can buy a cycle timer that will run for much more specific times as a pose to your typical timer that you would buy at walmart that all work in 15-30 minute intervals. A good cycles timer can run cycles such as on for one minute, off for an hour. etc. etc. they're a handy tool in the grow room, as you can use them for CO2 controls, Exhaust fans, drip emitters, air and water pumps. etc. etc.

Well if you only have a small exhaust you'll have to worry about humidity when they start to flower, where im at the humidity is at %15 but with plants enclosed it'll rise to 80-90 without any ventilation

man thanks for all the input, I am googling that wall mounted heater fan, do you mean all the unused space in my room now? or the space where I could have built it bigger? Honestly man I didn't have the money to buy anymore stuff, im having a problem with my breaker in the shop. I don't have hardly anything running but my 20 amp breaker keeps kicking off when I have my lights and 2 small heaters going. I don't know if I need to run a bigger breaker with bigger guage wire for my grow room shit or what.
