New Grower What do you think? Pics

So, I have been reading these forums for a few weeks now. This is not only my first grow but my first post as well. I'm doing this grow for experience only. Really dont mind if I am successful or fail as I have already learned a ton. I must thank you guys / gals in advance for the enormous amount of information on these boards.

Ok, on with my first CFL grow. Im using 4 x 14watt 5500k, 2 x 26watt 5500k, and 3 x 23watt 2500k ( I think) for a total of 157watts at the moment. I germed 3 decent bag seeds for this grow only. Temp is sitting at 78.5-83F. PH 6.5 no nutes yet waiting a couple weeks. Using Organic Choice soil ( mistake? ) with about 15% perlite. All 3 have broke soil are about 4 days old from seed.

Only a couple questions so far.

I think I read somewhere that its ok to mix red spectrum with blue. Is that true?

Is there a true growth spurt for these plants or does it very from strain to strain?

Thats all I have so far let me know what you guys think. I thank you all in advance for your advise / comments

yea since i threw the boxes away I dont remember the exact number but i thought it was around 9k-10k lumes at the moment. I have a few bigger 42watts and a couple 65watts for flower.

hey nice setup.. yes it is ok to mix spectrums just remember that more blue is better for vegging and more red is better for flowering

Nice, just wanted to make sure. Was going to use just the blues I had but, when I added the other 3 reds, the temp only went up .5 so I just left them in. Read on here countless times the more light the better.

Hey duder,
The growth spurt, you could call it, happens during vegetation where they're using as much light as possible and growing as fast as possible. However, the biggest and most wonderful change, we'll call it pot-puberty, happens 1-2 weeks into flowering.

Thank you. Im sort of short of space just trying to get an idea of when to flower. Much appreciated.:peace:

They are 3 socket vanity fixtures from Lowes, $9.95 each. Bought a couple of cheap extension cords cut the end off each and just connected the wires, and plugged them in. They work great. I actually have 2 more of them you just cant see them in the pic and another 4 socket for when I go to 12/12.

With Y splitters I have room for 24 CFLs ( without the 4 socket). At the moment im only using 9 CFLs.

Couple more days if all goes well which at the moment it is, Ill post an update.

So my plants are doing pretty good for only being a little over a week old from seed. I noticed all 3 of my plants have purple stems. They all look very healthy. I did some searches didn't find any good answers and was wondering if you guys could tell me what it is from? Or if its something to be concerned about.
PH - 6.5
Temp - 77-81F

Cut an extension cord and connected the wires? how do you do that?

Sounds like he used the end of the extension cords and spliced (wire nutted ground,neutral, and hot) them together, so he could plug in the fixtures to the wall.

I bought a couple of those cheap extension cords. The ones with the big 3 plugin square thing at the end. I cut that side off and connect the wires and used wire nuts to secure them. plugged them into the wall. Maybe ill post a pic to explain it better, but they are kinda hidden. You'll totally see what I mean when you see it. It is really EASY.

ive got about the same grow going on. my stems purple too but so are the under part of the leaves. post some more pics. do you know what kinda seeds you used. good look
