I've submitted both my flowers and bubble (45-160 microns), Blackberry Kush grown indoors using plant derived organic soluble nutrition, aka veganics. I received this message and would like to share the reply.

"Hey Matt!

Saw you recently were submitting some veganics for lab testing? I was wondering your thoughts on current lab testing?

I realize that companies, like Steep Hill, are first the offer these tests right now on the market. I was wondering how often you found these level's or percentages to be accurate? While I applaud companies, like Steep Hill, for finding CDB's and CBN's I think it would be wise to develop more research into first finding these CBD's and CBN's. As for the THC percentages, this seems to be mostly a water/weight-ratio number compared to quantity of cannabis to quantity of THC on said cannabis. I've found some strains that were rather low in THC but still produced the desired effect, if not better - based on the formation of different CBD's/CBN's. Just some questions, I figured I'd ask a fellow horticulturist!

You're coming back for OU right? Hope all is well!"

Great question/comment. They dehydrate anything they test, so water is taken out of the equation. Yeah, they kinda "cook" your herb and hash, WTF?! But that is needed, and they remove the H2O and DECARBOXYLATE THE THCV to THC. That is why they get such high numbers for THC. But, herb that tests over 20% THC is rare, very rare indeed. And over 25% has not been proven yet at this lab.

The numbers are in fact only accurate to 1.5% +/-. But they told me that with a higher sample size (more tests of same thing), they can get the accuracy to .5%.

The THC in fact plays a huge role in the "high". And most people are "medicating" just to get that soaring high associated with high THC/low CBD strains.

The other fact, is that high CBD strains (up to 9%) usually have lower THC percent (low teens). And CBD has very different medicinal qualities than THC, very.

It all comes down to personal choice, the market, scientific advancement, and education.

If people only care about THC, that is all they will get. If they demand more analysis, then they get that. If there is some break-thru then maybe the testing costs will come down, and educated patients will need to know CBD and terpenes and possibly some other cannabinoids that are crucial for different ailments.

The one thing I know for sure, is that the lab tests for insecticides and fungicides, which I'm all about some of that. I also want to see tests for heavy metals.

And its all about your biochemistry and cannabinoids profile, to each his own (strain)

That would be interesting if there was some sort of certification process that would express a standard in "organics."

There are many standards, and in fact Cannabis is being certified organic here in California. True story: An organic herb grower (literally herbs, not ganja) friend of mine was getting his garden certified organic. While the inspector was there looking around and asking questions my friend asked the inspector if he had ever certified Cannabis as organic. The inspector replied "why no, but i suppose i could". So my friend takes him over to the patch, shows him the SOLUBLE organic products that he is using on top of his soil-food web. And now his Cannabis is certified organic, his products in the dispensary carry his organic certification.

I just want to emphasize that he is using biodynamics, old school organics, new school organics, companion planting, and lunar cycles to guide him. And his ganja is certified organic

Hey Matt, whats your take on Sunshine Pro 4 mix and some new organic soluble ferts called Aggrand. My state may be passing some "organic laws" for mmj so I have already switched just not sure if its 100% organic like it claims. Thanks for any info you would be willing to dig up. BTW the girls seem to love it.
