New Setup with Growing Medium Ideas

Ok so im making a new aero setup with a huge footlocker, PVC, tubing, 2 200GPH pumps, and 8 grow sites with net pots and Neoprene lids. I also have other stuff like weather stripping, nutes, etc.

But my question is, what is the best growing medium? Rockwool? Or is there anything else out there i can use?

expanded clay pebbles are great, rockwool in aero remains saturated..

Its that i have it on a 15 minutes on, 15 off, all day long timing schedule so i need a medium that can retain water for 15 minutes at least

I thought aeroponics by definition requires no medium? I've seen setups where they just used the netpots with lids, not sure how they kept them from falling over though.

they fill the netpots with grorocks, yes the majority of roots are with no medium
