I am currently designing a new grow box.
The dimensions will be 201 x 50 x 60 in centimeters.
Some supplies I already own but I now must work through any problems that may arise and cover all basics of building a grow box.

Here is a list of what I have come up with so far, tell me if I'm missing something or if something else would work better. I will be making a sketch in a few days, I made a rough estimate on the total and it will cost me 277 euros.

  1. Stealthy, convenient, size – IKEA Pax Cabinet
  2. Lockable – Magnet locks
  3. Silent fans – Arctic cooling fans F8?
  4. Wiring – 12v Adapters for fans, guide in firefox bookmarks
  5. Timer –
  6. Reflective – Thick mylar, panda film
  7. Light proof –
    Fans – pvc, cardboard
Front – weather stripping, light trap, velcro zipper
  8. Odor free – Activated carbon filters + ONA Block Pro
  9. Grow medium – Perlite + Cactus soil/Light/Medium
  10. Pots – Holes at bottom with run-off tray
  11. Lamp height adjustment – Easy-rollers
  12. Fix for crooked lamp – Zip-ties
  13. Watering and nutrients – Syringe x 5 + container for mixing
  14. Chemicals – PH up
  15. Lights – 150W Envirogro 2700k
  16. Construction – Duct tape, AC tape, hot/thick glue, circle saw, white paint

Alright, made a quick design of what the inside will look like.

The section for growing is 130cm tall and the bottom two shelves are 70cm tall.
Would 4 plants work? 50 wide x 60 deep cm.

Hey man I'm trying to do the same thing, here's the thread about mine

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/582848-about-start-construction-my-first.html

Since it seems like we're both newbies maybe we can help each other out, for fans I think you'd be fine with the Arctic F12 but take a look at the ones I'm looking at

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O8I474/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

It's a four pack and each fan moves 44 cubic feet of air per minute (1246 L/min x4) and the area you're growing in only has 603 L of air in it. I don't know if this could cause a "too much circulation" problem, but everything I've read says that the more air movement you have the better. You can power all 4 fans with 2 of these

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MGG6SC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&smid=A1KINLM6A40SW

And 2 of these (you might only need 1 psu and 2 splitters, idk if this would be enough power though)

http://www.amazon.com/Computer-Molex-Power-Supply-Splitter/dp/B001PI9AAC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1353034556&sr=1-1&keywords=4+pin+molex+splitter

Let me know if you have any questions/feedback about mine, thanks!

Cool, thanks man. Subbed to that!
Well I don't live in the US anymore so that limits my selection of products.
I think I'll be sticking with the Arctic's tho!

All I really need to figure out now is how I'm going to power them and how I'm going to use DIY carbon filters!

What strain will you be growing?

I'll be growing Northern Lights, for powering the computer fans all you need is a computer Power Supply Unit (PSU) which you can pick up at any computer shop and most electronics places. For a DIY carbon filter I found this guide to be real helpful

I'm growing Northern Lights by Nirvana :)
Alright, I'll look into the PSU, thanks!
As for that filter, I need to use PC fans, so that will be too big.
I think I will make a Zen filter if carbon filter cloth and odor neutralizers fail me!

Let's say I use a PSU to power 4 12V fans. Will the PSU consume 48V or.. will it run at its regular power as if it were running a computer.. aka using a shitload of power.
