I'm very limited in heights and using only CRI90 is to much far-red for my taste. I would use ⅓ CRI90 only in flowering mode and on a secondary driver simply to enhance the red part of the spectrum.
So it sounds like you use a lot of these as supplemental lighting? Sounds like you are really dialing in on very specific spectrums for your plants. Are you growing the same genetics?

Nope! Most of the time different strains.
Preferable rare sativas, 2 or 3, meanlined to 8 branches each, but still moveable. Meanlining is a good way to keep them short enough, I don't like to use a trellis.
Got my fingers on some World of Seeds ColumbianGolds. It should be a stabilizied landrace from what the breeder means in the description. Barnerys Farm has also a nice Acapulco Gold I will try to get soon.
But now as my old COB/mono based lights are finally sold and I need to make a new one within the next few weeks but I'm struggling if I rather should use a 1750°k "meat spektrum" or simple 3k/CRI90 diodes to get more red/far red. I think it's time now for a decision and I will order a bunch of CRI90 strips they have hopefully in stock.

Whoa! That light is fuckin legit! -- You have a build guide on that?
Landraces are always nice. Good to keep a steady lineage.
I'm not a fan of Barney's, I got a few packs from them a while back, LSD, Tangerine Dream, and Silver Haze... most were duds. - But I've heard others who've had good luck with them.
1750 + 3000k, thats what The Dawg is running right?

I think by the time I'm done with a grow with these chinese 'knockoffs' i got, I'm sure there will be something new to get.. so I'm going to hold out until that time. No need for me to aimlessly spend money!

I feel like dialing in the lights could be very strain specific, no? Like nutes and temps. -- Perhaps that doesn't matter as long as you stick with the same species (sativa)

Great job on the light looks awesome

Hey, bro, you can't drop those sexy pics on us and not give us the details! Tell us about it. What is the function of all the switches?

What I'm not understanding is with this preponderance of evidence why are we not all using heavy green spectrum light in our grows?
Because green light is "expensive", so to speak, to make - at least with LEDS. Green LEDs are horribly inefficient, when compared to blue and red. The most balanced spectrum you will find is CMH which has a lot of green in it (that's why it has a CRI of 97), and most people agree it works quite well for growing. Overall efficiency is still considerably less than the best white LEDs though.

I thought CCT is determined by phosphorous layer coating over chip. Higher coating equals lower color temperature.
Well, sort of, in a round-about way. CCT is a measurement of a white light spectrum's color content as compared to a black body of a given temperature in Kelvins. It is the phosphor coating that determines the spectrum given off, and the content of that spectrum is what determines the CCT.

Would like to see quantum dot film technology advance and applied to 6500k cobs...

Okay, you're lucky, friends! A few pictures of the building process still exist ...
File names describe the building progress!
Each light consists of 4 CXB3590/3500°K/CD bin @1050mA and 12 OsramOslon hyperreds @700mA, roundabout 185W each. Was an ambitious project, inspired by @PSUAGRO. 's old COB/deepred based Timber lights.
I would solve some things differently today.

Have you any links for the 1750K 'fresh meat chips' in EU / UK?
:D

Good job, my bipolar is going havoc, while waiting for my parcel. Have like 45 tabs open in chrome at last count.
