new to growin

hey all,
have a few questions as im new to grow. I ordered krippleberry auto strain waiting on them now.
also I have 3gallon pots, ffof soil. my biggest question is this. will the ffof burn my plants. they will be germed in jiffy pots then transferredto the ffof. also using cfl for lighting. will what ive got work. any help would be appreciated.

Ur good with the cfl's. FF might burn I would start them in MG Organic Choice or ProMix or any peat/perlite brand.

all you can do is give it a go, all i grow is autos under cfls, my medium is soil, and i use bio bizz all mix, its meant to be way too hot for seedling, but works for me, i got a sweet tooth auto just germinated in it, and dont nute for 3 weeks, or showing she is hungry, also dont transfer autos, even in peat pots.
their roots grow extremly fast and like to tunnel down, let the roots have some freedom and transplant in final pots, give ffof a go, as this whole game is about trial and error. and just remeber you CANT smoke fan leaves, LEAVE buds alone (you can only take a tester 2 weeks before harvest) keep cfl's as close as possible, start nutes at quater strengh, dont ph water when using soil, get lots of c02/(fresh air) into your room, keep light cycle at 20/4 untill harvest dont use nutes every feed, and above all: DONT TELL ANYONE!!!!!! secondly DONT GET CAUGHT ;-)

You should read up a little on Autos if you haven't already. As the above poster mentioned Autos are very peculiar about root growth. They will "feel" around the pot in a sense to see how much room they have - if it's a small pot the plant will always be small. This happens as soon as the roots start growing so it is a good idea to just keep them in their final pots from the get go. Since they grow so fast, any stress is a pain because you're losing growth while the plant is still moving through senescence. :peace:

Any autos I grew ...best yeilds were in 2 gallon pots of biobizz allmix.start your seeds in 2 gallon ...no potting up you will stunt them if you do that....1feed of veg nutes when they start to flower ...for the extra N...and small doses of bloom nutes when in flower....best and strongest auto I grew was ....w.o.s.afghan kush Ryder...some strong stuff and good yeilders...cfls are really bad choice for autos as there small yeilders as it is..get a 250 hps you be glad you did....scarecrow77

it is undisputed that hps are better for lumens, however it depends on a grower, their needs,budget,vents, ect. for me cfls are best, thats coz i grow 1 maybe 2 at a time, but if you want say 5-10 then hps is definetly best, and if you do try to get a reflector with adjustable wings, just allows for a lil more freedom.

cept plants don't see/use lumens

hey furious whether it be 1 or 10 plants ...hps will out perform cfls even if you match the watts....I was never able to get a plant to finish properly when using cfls..I will agree that there are excellent for veging ....scarecrow77

hey furious.. A good tip for you is to start your seeds in your final pot..no transplanting at all you will just be stressing them...try it you will see for your self..and the best yeilds came from 11liter square pots..scarecrow77

Ff should be fine..just don't feed till it starts flower and only every 2nd watering at low doses.i know you are using cfls. But if you can buy even a250watt hps ....any good auto grows with cfls I've seen they were all experienced growers ..and it was only mediocre at best....for best results ....hps all the way...my first year of growing I used cfls and I wasted a whole year growing mediocre plants..when I changed to hps with the same strains ..yeilds tripled ...cfls also put an extra 2/3weeks on to flowering time..hope this helps...scarecrow77

scarecrow, i did mention not to transplant, i always finish in final pots, and i cant deny that a hps is way better, in any standards, however if the growers needs are minor then they may be worth a shot, eg. me, i dont need the most potent bud, also the yeilds are not too much of a problem, i have no argument that cfls are as good as hps, however maybe it is just ke that prefers them, as some prefer the taste and high of slightly premature buds, wherw as others leave a little longer to get supper couch lock, also hog bud could you please explain what your post meant, i never really got into the science behind it but i am very interested, thanks, furious

Lumens are a measurement of how Humans see light PAR is a measurement of how plants see/use light and the two share nothing, IOW you can have a lot of Lumens and Shit for PAR it is the spectrum and PAR that matter where plants are concerned

start the seeds in the final pots, but get some "seed starter" and put a little cavity of that in the top and start the seed in there, so there is no risk of burning a newly germinated seed.

CFL's can work good depending how many you have, and the right spectrum.
