New to growing - is this set-up ok?

Hello guys,
I'm thinking of a growing set-up and I would like to hear your feed back.
This will be my first time ever. I'm planning on growing Northern Lights Automatic (autoflower strain of northern lights; 80% indica, 20% ruderalis). I plan on growing only 1 flower in my room. I will use a 15 liter pot and will start with a 70w CFL 6500k and then switch to 70w CFL 2700k for the flowering. My biggest concern is my growing area. It will not be hidden in a closet or a box like everybody else does. Will I be able to grow the plant if it just sits in my room in a corner with that light? During the day it will also be exposed to indirect sunlight from my room. Also may I put the plant by the window during the day without using any artificial lighting? The position of my room is such that I never get direct sunlight and the weather here is often cloudy/rainy so all I get is indirect sunlight.

Should at least add some 13 or 23 watt lights for side lighting and least reflective material of some sort. Plus the smell will be bad prolly

I'm about 50 days into my first grow, and I started with my plant on my dresser. The light got to be a really annoying. If nothing else, I would probably get a big cardboard box, and cut some holes in it, to let air move around, and a small desk fan. Probably at least try to tape a bunch of blank white paper on the inside to, to reflect the light as much you can.
I am using CFLs and have noticed a big difference in the side lighting too. The back of my plant, where I didn't have the light at for a while is much more stretched out trying to reach up to the top, since not much light penetrates. a few clamp lights and 23w bulbs from home depot is only like $30.

This could work, but there are problems with the idea, which, I'm sure you're aware of. In the open, you will have to worry about external lighting interfering with your dark cycle, pot size is HUGE compared to what you have to have for that small amount of light. Out in the open means little to no reflectivity, so much of your light will be wasted. Have you thought about plant foods and flowering fertilizers? Do you have a plan? This venture could last you for months, and it's always wise to think a bit before giving it a go.

I would suggest to read about micro growing, and see if that interests you. It can be extremely affordable, and much much more productive than a 4' tall plant with a single cfl above it. Hope this helps, and feel free to ask me anything. I'm not regular on this site, but will help if you send me a message.

Good luck!:)

Thanks guys. Somewhere I read that the plant will get big enough to support a 15L pot. I don't know if it's better to start with a small pot and move it or do it straight in the big one. I'll think of ways to surround the plant with something and try to contain the light within the boxed area. I'm still trying to figure out the lighting. My budget is really low and I read that a 70w cfl will give me a decent amount of light. How many additional side lamps of 23w should I put and what should their color be?

Well I cannot say that this is the best grow method by any means... but since it is an autoflowering strain you will not have the same restrictions which make a light tight room necessary. Watts directly translate into grams making a CFL extremely inferior to HPS even a 400 watt light would give you staggeringly better results. You can't go wrong with sunlight, direct is great. Cannabis loves light, the more the better. Good Luck!
