growing isn't really all that cheap if you want to get the best results possible.. but it is possible to grow one or two plants with some cfl's... you can get these pretty much everywhere nowadays... just make sure that you get the biggest size wattage that you can.... and make sure you don't get confused by the packaging of cfl's.. on the box it sometimes will say 100 watt, but if you read close it will say 100 watt equivelent.. and when you look even closer you will find the actual wattage for the light.. something like 26 watts or so.. get the biggest actual wattage lights you can and the most of them that you can put in the area, a couple of circulating fans, and some seeds and your choice of medium and you should be golden...
there are a ton of threads for peps who grow using only cfl's and i am sure that they are full of good info that you may find helpful along with plenty of peps with the experience of growing with these types of lights that would be more than willing to help you out and answer anymore ?'s that may come up during your grow..
hope this helps you out some..

I was on a budget, found a free fridge as a cabinet, bought a light $$$$

Then some nutes for the plants $$

Plants $

Other items unforeseen issues that come up $$$

Good luck, where there is a will there is a way

i started with some free seeds a $10 plastic green house thing with the little round soil disc's 2 120w spot grow bulbs i think where $7 each and 2 daylight 100 watt equivalent 6500k cfl's $ each and i bought 4 of the round reflectors for the bulbs i think they are like $10 each.but when they started looking like maybe they will grow i spent a ton on light and nutes.so maybe start cheap no nutes for 2-3 weeks and go from there, also keep your eye's open for an affordable light i found a 400w mh that was ready to plug in on craigs list for $50 so there are deals to be had

search hempy bucket.

soil is free and ferts are cheap for it.

if ya wanna spend som bucks on good nutes then run straight perlite in them with veg nutes. then flower. GH 3 part is cheapest and just run the micro and bloom. look up lucas.

your prolly betteroff just being patient and saving for one decent light. then rockn from there. get an HID/HPS. get the magnet ones cuz they are cheap. don worry bout digital yet.

then grow sog under it and reinvest expand from ther.

my buddy took seeds he found and pushed them into the soil of his house hold plants and they grow so he transplanted them and grow them in the window and under his kitchen light until they were a foot tall then planted them out side and forgot about them until harvest time.i smoked some with him so it was free and super easy

It can be as cheap as you want it to be. You dont need anything fancy for a plant to grow. Water, soil and light will make a complete grow. BUT If your going to do it, you should spend a little to make it the best you can. The BEST "Cheapest" way to grow is first do research! Find what you can spend in total. Then go from there. A good book to start growing with is "Buds for less" By Seemorebuds. Or another one is "Closet Cultivator" By Ed Rosenthal. Both books cover CHEAP ways to grow herb and also give you step by step instructions.

Do research first tho my friend. It WILL pay off in the end.

sounds like a plan, so does a regular flourecent like work?
I also grow super very inexpensively. I use 2 4ft shop lights that use 2 bulbs a piece. ($32 including both 4 sets of bulbs)

I bought 2 $1 l brackets to screw onto the lights to separate and tilt in. It works like a charm.

For the walls I used to use white poster board. Its cheep, reflective, and disposable.

I also use poster board for air vents and anything else I can.

These lights wont get you the biggest plants in the world but you can easily grow 3 3ft plants with them.

YES.... florescents DO work...and quite well.
1st time grower here too and did it on the cheap also. Put some auto lowryder 2 under some floros....2x4' 40w....watered sparingly till about 3 weeks old, then when dry....almost ignored'em....easy and cheap. Controlled odor by taping a puter fan on top of a shoebox (cut out hole)....with some fabulosa/pinesol/water mix in plastic ware inside box.
MJ is much easier to grow than I ever though but it appears to depend on the strain you use. My grow of "regular" mj hasn't been nearly as easy..... chose how much of a schedule you are willing ot accept during a grow. Autos are no schedule ....turn on light and smoke when ready.....

ok i have my grow area all set and ready for seedlings and a fan, picking up my 3 25 watt cfls and my flouresent light in the near future i plan on veging with 2700k 2800Lum cfls then buying a couple 2700k 1600Lum cfls for flowering. unfortunetly none of the stores in my area have any 5000Lum or 6000Lum so hopefully this will be enough, i plan on running atleast 3 cfls at all times on a 24/7 schedual during veg and dropping it to 12/12 for flowering. i am growing in my fishtank stand(about 4 ft wide and 3 ft high) for the first wile then ill decide whether or not i want to grow it bigger or not. what is the easiest way to grow a shorter plant with a fair amount of bud using what i am using in my grow.
