New to Marijuana..Experimenting with it to treat Anxiety..Need some guidance

Hey guys how's it going. I've never been into smoking pot much, and have only done it recreationally a few times in my life. I was always the kid who would have his friends set everything up and take a few hits before getting super stoned and not smoke again for months. I've been dealing with some serious anxiety over the last year, and I remember out of desperation I smoked once, and got SO crazy high because I was on SSRI's - honestly too high, but all my anxiety was COMPLETELY gone. My doctors advised I didn't do that again, but now I'm off all anti-anxiety meds (which never worked). I've decided to give marijuana a legitimate try for managing my anxiety, and using it on an as needed basis. I read online that THC can increase paranoia and anxiety, while Cannabidiol can really make people chill out, so apparently I should get a high Cannabidiol strain. Anyway, I'm a COMPLETE newb, and was wondering if someone could guide me on how I should go about getting reputable pot. Maybe it's a super dumb question to ask on a public message board, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm not looking to get pot from one of my friends who smokes just to bum out all day and watch trance youtube videos..I'm using pot for a purpose here and don't really care about saving nickels. How would I go about buying good pot, preferably not in a completely sketchy back alley apartment.

Thanks,

-Rich

What country/state are you in. Depending what one you could get your Medicinal marijuana card and go buy some at a dispensary.

I'm 20 min north of NYC, is it hard to get a card?
not really.. but it helps a bunch of you have a current or past history with a regular dr.. I brought along my MRI's my RX's etc.. nothing was looked at.. but it's kinda easy to tell by looking at me.. I am in pain..lol

have you tried medibles? Marijuana in food.. I know a few folks who have anxiety issues and medibles have seemed to work the best and longest for this..

our site has a cooking section too

Thanks for the recommendation..I'm reading over that section now. However I'd still need to find a dealer or a way to get the actual marijuana in the food, which I guess is my current predicament. Maybe I'll try getting my card that sounds like a pretty straightforward idea because I've been suffering intensely for over a year, I'm in the same boat as you Gioua I'm clearly in physical pain due to my anxiety. I'll just bring over the ridiculous amount of prescription bottles I have had over the last year.

The only thing is I'm not a resident of New Jersey. That matters right? I can't just drive out of state to get weed from a doctor right? Otherwise I figure everybody would be doing it.

if its for anxiety you need a low thc strain. thc tends to make people who suffer with anxiety cause more anxiety youre best to grow your own strains rather than buying it off someone without any knowledge.

I use it for anxiety and most of the time it works great. Only time it gives me anxiety is after I have got high then all of a sudden something comes up that I would much rather do not stoned, sometimes it will give me a little anxiety and there are times I have gotten REALLY high and got anxiety but most of the time I get really high and I am all good.

Just take it slow starting out since you have never been a big smoker. Take a hit and sit it down for 15 minutes and so on.

I hope it helps you, please keep us updated I would love to hear how it helps you.

I would suggest reading thru the Medical MJ posts for your state here on rollitup -- or checking out the NORML website for MMJ laws, dispensaries, doctor/clinic recommendations specific to your location. That's a starting point for getting your medical card. Just an FYI, Oregon (where I am) did not consider anxiety as a qualifying condition for medical marijuana (this might have changed, but I don't think so). They have recently added PTSD, and I think other emotional/mental disorders will probably follow. (hurrah!) I don't know about the qualifying conditions in the state where you are, but you might have to squeak into the system under a category different from anxiety (for instance: "chronic pain" paints a wide swath.). If your anxiety is causing headaches, that might be your ticket in. Just mho.

Also, I have 2 family members that use cannabis for anxiety/depression, and it has worked wonders. Both were clinically diagnosed etc etc, and did the whole round of pills from traditional big pharma -- after months/years, absolutely no improvement, and in fact, those anti-depressants practically killed my boyfriend.

Enter the cannabis cure. It has been a lifesaver for my household. We are so much happier, more productive, and *normal* now. (as normal as we ever get, lol)

I would suggest having a veteran pothead around you (or a well informed family member) when you begin to medicate, just for those "Oh shit, I'm WAY too high" moments that can happen at the beginning. (and especially if using medibles, the potency of which can be VERY different each batch). Just someone to make you drink some water, kick back, and listen to music and remind you that "nobody ever OD'ed on pot" can really help in the beginning!

Best of luck, and keep us posted.
