Hey there, I have read till my eyes bled and decided to start a medical grow. Tell me I’m doing this right I’m starting seeds in seedling soil with clear homemade dome. I was told by a local grower not to paper towel germinate my first go but to knuckle deep a seed and spray soil top and top with clear cup with holes on top. I have one 23 watt 6500 k bulb overhead for added warmth I plan on dropping 2 23 watt CFLs when I see better growth. I have a 1500 watt led and a carbon scrubbing filter hooked to a 390cfm fan. How bad have I screwed up so far?

Take the domes off, they not cuttings, don't need extra humidity, a knuckle deep sounds a bit much, usually just plant double the seeds height, around 6-8mm. The setup looks decent, but you also need some sort of intake fan as well as a circulation fan

Why? After sinking I throw mine in a home made terrarium and have a 100% germ rate (though that only equals less than ten seeds a year - two grows worth).

Paper towel works fine every one of my seeds have germed and I plant mine an inch or 2 in soil and cover them that's it. They pop every time. NL is easy to grow make sure heat stays down and plenty of air movement and you'll be fine

Their is no root system or any leaves, how will increased humidity help reduce transpiration? Seeds only need water and heat to germinate, I put mine directly into the soil and have always had 100% germination rate, but each to their own, whatever works best for you.

I use a terrarium to primarily control evaporation so i can control the watering situation better. My plants start their lives in a peat container and i water the tops as needed and from a tray for the first few weeks. They don't stay under long and there is aeration but when they're still seeds it helps keep the top layer of soil from drying out longer..

But Im certainly not advers to trying other methods. What i do might not be best way but its one constant that always works for me.. unlike the rest of some of my grows sigh
