Libertarian does not simply mean lack of central government.
Socialism simply means state controlled production.

Somalia suffers from a legacy of too much government. They have and enforce a state religion and banned Christmas celebrations in recent history.
"scientific socialists" until 1991 individual rights are not respected in post civil war Somalia and the Xeer law system is hardly libertarian. Women often are forced to marry their rapists but hey, they were recently allowed to drive, what a Libertarian Paradise.

Trying to assert Somalia as a Libertarian Nation is beyond ignorant.

That's a weak but not unexpected reply from you. Somalia is the kind of race to the bottom that represents the libertarian ideal. I'm for regulations to prevent that kind of race to the bottom. Regulations are needed to keep monopoly and fakery from dominating the marketplace. If supporting food safety regulations is "state controlled production" then I'm for it. But I don't think that is socialism.

On the other hand, state controlled services and organizations are sometimes called socialism too. Such as the military, social security and medicare. Also SNAP is sometimes called socialism. Maybe they are, but I'm for them too. Also roads and other infrastructure that would otherwise be a privately held monopoly.

Of course as a libertarian, you would be all for private armies and such. Like Somalia.

Would we have a military without volunteers? State controlled indeed. Another baseless Somalia like assertion.

We have a Constitution that establishes 3 types of court systems, Military Tribunal being one of them.
We have a military established by the first session of Congress. This is also where it explains the District Courts exclusive original cognizance saving to suitors.

What you have in Somalia is warring armies that can't seem to overpower each other.

I am not sitting here typing you that Food Stamps and Roads and Social Security (which includes food stamps in case you didn't know) are "socialist" and therefore evil and must be abolished.

What I am saying is that all of these things are voluntary. Your roads come from gasoline tax which is voluntary. Social Security is likewise voluntary.

Why do you think that if the government was out of a business like building roads or mailing letters that the business would morph into a private monopoly instead of simply be open to competition?
