New White Hairs at end of flowering?

So i have been flowering for about 9 and a half weeks with a few clones i let veg for a week after rooting. They are basically just my little test for the big mommas. In any case, i haven't been very careful with them as i was more judging yield and flowering length. Now i have about 85% red hairs but the other day our power went out for about two days. No worries i put them next to a window and my timers run with the normal daylight here so they did ok. Well one clone seemed to half mature through flowering and then stagnate. It has had almost all red hairs except for a white tuft at the top of the cola that does not seem to want to mature. Maybe it was bad seed as both are bag seed. Maybe just too much stress. Everything else is matured properly. My other clone, the one doing the best by far, is still very healthy looking and was maturing very evenly until the power outage. Now it too has grown a group of new white hairs from the top of the cola. Maybe 10 alltogether and only coming out of the very top. So my question is, is this normal? Did my power outage cause this (a huge drop in light for a few days?) or is it just time to pick em? If the new white hairs hadn't appeared in the last few days i would say i was about half a week or maybe a whole week away from harvesting. Here are some pics.

Got any ideas? I'm guessing it's just the light issues but if so when should i harvest? I'm going to clip the top wait a few days then work my way down but the top would have been pretty much done if not for the new white hairs.

No one? Some of the ones on the cola are starting to turn reddish so maybe it's just doing one last flush of hairs before it's ready. I'm gonna give it a few more days and see how it goes. The smaller one has always looked like that though (all red hairs and only white at the top) for about two or three weeks.

Still clearish white. I don't have any magnification so you can probably see them best in those pics.

I have a similar problem, I figured it was normal. I'm having a hard time, I started preparing for harvest at week 7 and have been taking samples since. Now I'm ending week 13 and they still don't look ready, seems like they were stunted and I also have the white tops that don't seem tio mature. Weird, now I'm curious.

its very normal, the glands have opened, thats all, usually when that happens your ok to harvest

My bottom sections are still pretty immature and i'm getting a few more evenly distributed white hairs so i'm just gonna wait it out for now. I'll let you know what happens when i harvest though. It's about an 8 inch clone so i'm not too worried just doing some tests like i mentioned above.

get a pocket microscope.......................
Seriously, like $10 at Radioshack. Also, look into harvesting in sections if you want all the buds evenly ripened-- a lot of plants will mature in sections, and sometimes has to do with the light...the trics are your best indicator..

Also, my plant had about 80% of the pistils browned then started making new while pistils all of a sudden.. it's normal...

yeppers. be carefull about the time that you let it go though. most people dont know but plants CAN go too long into flowering and start to turn hermie. they get bananas and pollinate theirselves (people make fem seeds this way as well as with gibleric acid)

mine seem opposite, more mature at lower smaller buds, I'm rolling out week 14 right now, this is crazy.

each strain is different. some mature top to bottom or vice versa. some mature weeks different from top to bottom....
Just look @ your trichrome colors and cut the buds that are done. I never cut a plant all at once unless i let them go for a super long ass time for more couch lock. Plants NEVER mature all at the same time.

I'll get a pocket microscope and i'm gonna read up on when to harvest based on trichs. Am i looking for them to turn amber or milky white? In any case i won't let them go for more than two weeks more cuz that would be putting them around 12 or 14 weeks (i never tracked when i first changed the light cycle). Either way i'll let you all know how it goes and i was thinking of actually harvesting a little from the top and a little from the bottom and seeing the difference while the rest matures more.

That's what I'm doing. I've been taking cuts since week 8. I handled mine alot too cuz I was impatient and curious as a first timer, so I have to pry the buds open to get to trichs that I haven't broken off from handling.

My first question is how do u know you are nine and half wekks through flowering? second is, on a plant like this how do you what to actually harvest?

what kind of lights are you guys using on these plants that are going close to 14 weeks?
I am wondering too.

Recently harvested some WW at 10/11 weeks and the trics were clear to milky. Very few amber. Its good smoke but it could be better.

I'm using a 400W conversion ballast, true HPS, conversion MH. My plant has suffered horribly, this is my first grow. I'm guessing that things like pH imbalance and heat/humidity issues could stunt the trich maturity rate, but today is 14 weeks and I'm really getting impatient. My top cola literally fell over. I was actually kinda happy, because if the stem would have broken then there would have been no more waiting. Research has shown me that there are certain sativa strains that take a really long time to mature, so I guess it depends.

Any type of major stress will stunt a plant- when the plant is stunted it either stops growing all together for a bit or slows down dramatically. Both of which would slow the overall time of the plant completing it's life cycle..so this could have been a factor.. :blsmoke:
