Newb grow room setup advice. Does this look good?

Hi y'all,

I wondered if some of you wouldn't mind me giving me some thoughts on my planned for grow setup.

I'm only looking to harvest one plant a month for personal use and to give some to friends. I'm not doing this to make a penny, but to self medicate as I know the benefits of the right strains (Indica's) definitely help me.

I've recently moved into my new home, it's a 1950's bungalow. It does have an attic but I'm getting on in years and I don't want to have to keep climbing up it each day. However, I do have two cupboards of a decent size that back onto each other that I could use for this. (See image, I could drill a hole through the brick divider to make them connectable)

I'm planning to buy from Kingbrite @ Alibaba. Any advice would be appreciated on the best light spec for my setup, and dealing with alibaba and FOB. I've never done that before, it seems like a hassle
Edit: Tried to put the Kingbrite/Alibaba link here but this site won't let me yet. I've seen the same link posted all over this site so you've probably seen it. It's Cree CXB3590 top bin 3500k spectrum

These are some of the questions I have right now. As you can see from my drawing, I'm using one LED driver with 4 lights. The 4 lights will be spread out into various locations... Two will be in veg, and two in bloom.

Q1. Do/Should the LED cables all have to be of the same length? I imagine if one cable is much longer than the others that cause some kind of problem?

Q2. I'm not so much worried about scents... But, should I be ventilating anyway?

Q3, My first grows, I'll probably start with 2, then add 1 more each month. I see some issues with the 4 lights being in different locations for this. Should I leave 1 or 2 of the lights off completely and only add them when I'm ready? If that's the case, won't the current lights be drawing too much power and not at the (from what I've read) optimal 50w each. Two would draw 100w each right?

Any other considerations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I should mention that the shelf in the taller cupboard for the veg plants will be just a few slats (maybe 5) of 2" x 1" wood. That should support the weight, and also allow for any excess light to fall onto the flowering plant below.

I'm gonna answer your question in this thread because you really don't want to get involved in that other drama.

Your Q about reflector vs glass lens. They are both designed to increase intensity while sacrificing a little bit of coverage. If you have a tall space your illuminating you might consider reflectors to help blast light towards bottom of canopy.
From the setup you pictured I wouldn't bother with reflectors or lenses because in your limited height you will want to maximize spread.

About ventilation. You may not need to vent the heat as much as with HPS but it's still great to manage smells.

For coverage aim for 40-50 w per square foot.

I think if your aiming to do 1 plant then use a 24x24 area or 36x36 area and grow 1 giant monster and Scrog it.

I personally just built a 18x18 x 48" box to grow a single plant in myself.

Thank you so much for responding. I really appreciate it.

I changed my mind since the thread was made and I'm now actually planning on putting two lights into each off the 3 sections, so 100W in each section. The plan is to scrog two plants in each section. The spaces are around 2x3 feet each, and height is limited.

I've never grown before... But, do have quite green thumbs from growing garden flowers and stuff.

Does 100w wattage sound good for the space?
Would you recommend one plant per section rather than two?

Hmm if your saying your height is limted than Cobs may not be best choice unless you plan on running more of them soft.

A cob is an intense amount of light packed into a tiny area. IMO a QB board or samsung strips would be a better option. The light is much more spread out so you can run them soft and keep plants close to them.

2x3 area is 6 sq feet, if your only using 100w then it would equate to 16.6w per sq ft.

In terms of 1 or 2 plants it's up to you. Either one big monster spread out to take advantage of a Scrog or two slightly smaller.
