Hi I started my 6wks ago using nft hydro and led lights in a tent most of my plants seem fine but 1 looks a wee bit sick with leafs curling and slightly deformed

Can I see the issues in those blurple pics?

The bottom left leaf is curled and white on 1 side and the top left leaf is curled down and slightly deformed. Should I be using silver bullet for my roots or similar product the rest of the plants are fine. Sorry about the purple lights its the LED's

Those plants are 6 weeks old from seed?

These are 48 days from being placed in the paper towel. Lil more than 6 weeks.



They are autos and just stretched so a bad comparison but you should be much larger by this point.

My first guess would be that rockwool your using. Stuff is very frowned upon. Many many people have had issues. It holds to much water and will rot your roots.

Take better pics without blurple. Take pics of your entire garden.

I've been using silver bullet for the roots I started with 2LED lights but had to add another 2 so I think that has held up the growth. I have had some probs with the rockwool right enough is there another product u would recommend instead of rock wool

Those are very offensive to many people

The only way I could do that is to switch the LEDs off will that be ok? Why are purple lights offensive?

You can't see anything
And like strobe lights, it triggers mental issues in many people

And turning lights off or on for pics is fine

OK thanks I'm using Sensi Grow A&B I think it was lack of light at the start I only had 2 LED 3000w lights at the start added another 2 a couple of wks ago as I thought the light was the problem and I think they were 2 far away from the plants at the start. You learn as you go I suppose

The lights say "3000" but are probably closer to 500. Maybe even less. The "2000" blurple my friends has pulls 409 from the wall with both switches on. "Had" should say. He upgraded.

Are the rockwool cubes sitting on the bottom of the tray? And then you flood the tray?

If so....that ain't going to work like you hoped it would.

Those cubes hold so much water they will never dry out. The roots and stems will rot inside the cube.

Not sure what else you could use instead of rockwool. Need to change a lot of to make things work better.

I grow in pots filled with hydroton. I pump water over the rocks and collect it back in my tank.

It's nft hydro there's some black mold on some of them gonna add another 2 lights to improve growth. Is there anything else I can use other than rockwool?

I've not checked I've been using silver bullet for them I'll check the roots at the wkend when I change the water in the tanks. Should I of cut the paper round the rock wool off before I put them in? Wasn't sure if that was to hold them together?

I'm not sue about black mold, but you should cover the rockwool to prevent algae. Especially if you aren't top feeding them. Aluminum foil works I guess, but Panda Film is good stuff.

I think I'm the only person on the forum to use coco cubes, but I really like them and they would work well with your setup.

I think I'm the only person on the forum to use coco cubes, but I really like them and they would work well with your setup.

They make an open topped version if you're top feeding, and also a bunch of different sizes. The only downside I've found was they get algae pretty easily, so you need to cover them. They're also a little expensive, but worth it depending on your setup. I'm pushing them together into a big square with two or three empty cubes per plant, and let them all root together. It's like a low profile raised bed. Plus after the harvest I can just pull them apart and get rid of them instead of having to deal with one big fabric pot full of coco.

I can see you have those side lights too, I cant tell if the effected plant is close to one of those but it could be light stress. Something is definitely not right with the system as in hydro the plants should be growing quicker than they are showing. Is your tank set up with the slight incline, I cant see were the water is coming out on your water/nutrient film method. Also there should be ridges in your tank so that the rockwool blocks are not sitting flat on the bottom so the roots can grow out from your blocks and create a root mat in the channels of the tank. You usually have to hand feed to start off with till the roots start to grow out of the bottom of the blocks, then start feeding via the nft method. The nft film water should be running 24hours a day, and should go in to one side of your tank run down the channels over the roots growing in the channels down your incline and out like a waterfall the other end back into your tank.You can cover the top of those blocks with dark plastic if you wish so no algae grows. To me it looks like your plants havent rooted in to your main blocks properly never mind out of the bottom of them, looks like there still rooted in the tiny starter blocks. Which probably means youve missed the hand feeding bit to get them roots growing out of the big blocks then set for nft.
