I've been doing a whole lot of searching and I can't confirm a right time to begin flowering some places say go by height some say wait until preflower develope and I am lost I just want a healthy plant and some bud :P so my question when is the optimal time to begin 12/12 on my first grow and why?

The plant won't be mature enough to flower until it's about a month old. Then, make the flip to 12/12 when you'd like. The longer you veg, the bigger the plant, the more bud you can get. Conversely, you can run 12/12 from seed, and the plant will start flowering as soon as it's mature enough to do so, leaving you with smaller, full of bud plants.

Good luck, and happy growing!

Go by the age of the plant and the strain. If you are growing sativa, unless you have the headroom I wouldn't go past 5 weeks. All others you have to decide whether you want a really big plant, or do you want your crop faster. 4 to 5 weeks is a good place to switch in most cases, but some people go to six or eight weeks, but to each it's own. Peace

1. Hope it's not a guy. That would just suck.

2. Yes, as to the red spectrum. That means you'll want "warm white" as opposed to "cool white."

I really need to proof read before posting >.< ...any who I have a red spectrum bulb actually, but it's meant for tarantulas yet I don't ever use it(space heaters are wwaayyy healthier). I figure it would be useful now right?
