Thanks, man! I have some of that rubberized training wire supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Probably should have done it earlier...
Probably but it isnt too late, defoliate some, top and train. Since you have small space you def wanna get the most out of your plants, training will do that

Defoliate? What exactly should I be cutting off? I know you can't tell me which branch, but what are the "rules" or common method for selecting which leaves to clip??

Tied down the first two sets of producing branches. Should cause things to spread out a bit, I hope. I think I'm gonna pass on anymore topping. I want to switch to flower in just over a week and I don't want the stress on her. I started topping really late and I know it. Noob mistake, but it will be fine. I'll do better next time. :-)

Regards.

Looking good! Since you just have the one plant in that tent, I'd say keep begging it and topping/training as well.

Day 38 - Day 2 of Flower

No bugs or blight. Yay! It's sticking around 40-55 RH and 73-79F (26C) . It's been near a 100 here the past couple days so I'm stoked to not be having trouble with it.

Flipped to flower on Weds. (Day 36) Fed a gallon of water and 1/3 dose of Fox Farm nutrients today and she seems happy. The nutrients brought the pH down to 6.6 or so, which was convenient. Also did a little bit of trimming. Any lower leaf that didn't look healthy or looked like it was just going to grow into the soil got snipped.

Running the 3k bloom bulbs that I got with the light. Headed to Lowes tomorrow and if I can put together a CFL reflector or 2 I might do that. Would be nice to get a little more light in there. I kind of got my mind set on a Mars Hydro Reflector 96 and maybe one of their older models like the Mars 300, or something else, to gain some flexibility for the next round. Suggestions are certainly welcome. :-)

On to the photos...

Thanks for looking!

Day 6 of Flower

Fed her a gallon of pH'd water and nothing else. I had a little tip burn after feeding last time and I can see some clawing of the leaves so best to skip the food this week, I think.

The two new lights raised the temp. about 4 F. so I opened the last passive vent and it's come back down. We just keep on keepin on. :-)

Things are going pretty good. She has stretched several inches and started to make enough pistils to see without a magnifying glass. :-) Lots of, what I hope will be, strong bud sites and starting to smell delicious! Still feeding 1/3 dose of Fox Farm nutes, every other water, and added a little CalMag last time because I have been seeing some purple stems.

Blackjack's flower time is listed as 9-11 weeks so there still some time to go. But I'm really looking to get about a pound out of this one.

Just a couple progress pics. Things are going pretty good except that I think I had it wrong about the CalMag deficiency. Pretty sure I'm seeing phosphorous deficiency now. Instead of purple stems they are actually red and there's some evidence on a couple leaves, as well. Next feeding, which is tomorrow, I'm going to about double the dose of Tiger Bloom. Tiger Bloom has the higher phosphorous content so I'm hoping that will resolve the deficiency.

In different news a neighbor hooked me up with some "tea" which I dumped into my potted tomatoes out back. I'm hoping for a nice harvest on those too. I love tomatoes and this is the first time I've grown those.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend.

Please don't buy the mars hydro lights, unless you are planning to turn them into diy cobs. you can go over to the led section and they will trash them better than i ever can. you'd be much better adding another t5 fixture with some 10,000k bulbs

Thanx for your input. I could maybe squeeze another small fixture in there but I would still have the same problem with fluorescent's poor penetration. I have looked around this forum, and others, and have seen many of these anti-mars hydro, as well as general anti-cheap chinese crap posts. I have seen lots of claims that they are crap, and I will admit that in general a cheap light is lesser than a light built with top-notch materials and craftsmanship.

However, in my searching I have found very little actual evidence of Mars Hydro products being junk. By "evidence" I mean journals showing, let's say, starting off with a Mars Hydro light and then documenting poor performance, support or manufacturing. Here's a journal showing good results from one of these "cheap chinese crap" lights. There are others, too. One I just saw with a Reflector 96, I think, also showing good results. Right now I've got more watts on my plant that he does so I'm very curious to see how it turns out.

Thanks again for stopping by.

I can you tell you by personal experience they suck. What happens is that you have to end up keeping them within 8" of the tops in order to get any penetration or density to your colas. Then you have heat problems because the leds they use get very warm. I had best results with a scrog so i could keep the whole canopy at 8" from the light. However, with the problems i stated above i still was not satisfied. I will admit that for $60 you can produce a fair amount of finished product, but it's not going to produce the quality you want without shoving a bunch of them in a little space.

If you want to see what flourescents can do, check out RM3 or whitebb2727 's grows. Your plant looks great by the way.

Day 25 of Flower

Things are moving along without any real trouble. Still seeing a lot of red stems so I bumped the Tiger Bloom up to about 3/4 dose, as well as about 1/2 dose of the other two.

The fine detail in the buds is showing the limitations of my camera and knowledge. No manual white balance or manual flash power and the depth of field is pretty weak. But I'm doing what I can.

Regards,
