Nitrogen Question. Soul Synthetics

So i just got my hands on some Soul Synthetics 8-0-0. I plan on flushing my soil in order to correct my p.H. I don't have any p.H up or down to correct the p.h of my water, so i plan on using S.S. 8-0-0 to do so. I have a 1 gallon container of distilled water which i know the p.h is around of if not at 7.0. If i use my fertilizer will it lower the p.H too much? Or how would i go about getting the desired p.H to correct my soil. They are in 2 L pots. I also have some epsom salt, and Happy Frog 3-8-8 granular fertz (only the phosphorous and potassium are soluble in water) to work with. Let me know what you think...

Thank, Joe

If you have an issue with pH in your medium, it was probably caused by plant food so adding more plant food isn't going to help. If you truly want to correct the pH of your medium, you're going to need a pH meter and some pH up and down. I'd leach your medium if I were you and measure the pH of the runoff. From there you can adjust the pH of what goes in to your medium in effort to bring that pH into the proper range.

Example: Your pH is probably too low, lets say the runoff measures 5.5. Maybe you could feed with a pH of 7.0 in the future until you get that runoff water into the 6's. The bigger issue however is how you got to this place to begin with and a TDS meter might help you figure that out. A lower pH in your medium is from an accumulation of salts from your plant food. You're either feeding too much or feeding too frequently or not watering until you see runoff. I once heard that when you water, you want 10% runoff, keep that in mind.
