is it possible to just use water with nothing in it in a DWC with just the bubblers? or do you "Gotta have nutes in the water"
i was thinking i can use just straight water now and just add nutes in like 2-3 weeks.

They don't need nutes until they for a set of real leaves and then very light. You should pick a good nute product and follow their feeding schedule.

im sayin though. would my plants be able to grow fine in just water and bubbles?
i plan on taking one of my cuttings and dipping it in olivia gel then stick it in the DWC, but the bottom of the stem where its cut will be sitting in the water. would that be ok? reason for it, is because i cant get the nutes right at this moment. but ill have some in about 3 weeks...

well i never grew hydro but I'm sure someone here could help you.....I think 3 weeks would be a little long with no nutes especially givin the fact that hydroponic plants grow faster in general. There might be a way you could use a diluted urine for a while I'm sure some people know the recipe or at least something you could use just a suggestion not trying to be gross lol

you have to use nutrients. as simple as that. what would you do if you consumed nothing but water for the next 12 weeks?

so what would happen to the plants in 3 weeks with no nutes? they would die?
and another question, what kind of nutes do i need to buy? i keep getting different names with no reasons...

most likely they would just die.

there are plenty of nutes, everyone has their own prefered selection. i am currently using the canna range, for my coco, and will also be using the canna range for my DWC when it get's going in about 4 weeks time :) it's a fairly easy to use nute that is in liquid form so doesn't need stiring into the water etc.

Go ahead and take your cuttings and put them in your dwc by the time your nutes arrive you should have roots and they should be ready to eat. You don't have to have nutes in the water if you are cloning right in you dwc.

you can make it for about a week maybe two, maybe three, but that is deffinately pushing it. Your roots, leaves, stem, the whole damn plant man, needs a certain amount of nutes the whole point of oxygenating the water is to help deliver the nutes to the roots non stop continues and this is what makes DWC perferable because your plant can better acces the nutes. this naturally turns them into nute monsters. It's worth it though. As soon as I see leaves I start adding the nutes my DWC plants are 2 weeks old and at 700 ppm right now and are loving it. But remember Oxygen helps deliver nutes to the roots so with out any nutes you are defeating the purpose.

ooOOOOooo now i didnt know that lol. i just started growing with DWC.
well then i should be fine. exactly how long does it take to see roots pop out?

im still confused on this whole nutrients thing. i needa know everything from step to step. like what to add and how much i add.
from my understanding, say i got some Fluronectar. now all i do is take some poor it in the water and let it do its job? thats it? im sure theres more to it than that isnt there?
btw is fluronectar any good kuz i plan on buyin some

floranector hmm never used it, i'm am sorta a nube also, but i've done tones of reasearch and i have a couple uner my belt. I use the General Hydroponics three part block. Once I see leaves and put it under the lights i add nutes I use a 31 gallon tote for six pots I only put about ten gallons of water in then I change every week and a half. My GH bottle suggests to use 1 tspn per gallon i use half of whatever it suggests and toward the end they will get full dose for about 2 weeks and then i will cycle them back down to 0 ppm by harvest. Buy some superthrive it works wonders will help keep your plants healthy and build a well established root system which you won't have a prob with anyways but it deffinately helps.

mine poped roots at 7 days and I'm talkin seriouse roots 7 days after poped in the dwc out of the flood and drain i can only emagine how the roots would be doin if they had been in the DWC the whole time.
