No roots from clones. Think I f'd up.

Hi,

First, this forum is a great resource for growers, and I'd like to thank everyone for your helpful contributions.

It's my first time growing, and I made a cheap little bubbleponics rig. I bought 4 clones from a local grower. His ad said the plants were "well rooted & healthy". When I picked them up he said I should keep them under fluorescents for 24 hours, which I did. I then put them in my system, with a drip on them since I didn't see any roots. That was 3 days ago.

So, hopefully I'm freaking out about nothing, but I still see absolutely no roots coming out of the rockwool. I killed the drip to encourage root growth, but everything I've read said I should have seen roots coming through the rockwool before I put it in the system.

Did I fuck up the clones? What can I do to further encourage root growth? Help please D:

To be honest, I'm not sure. I didn't, and still don't, see any roots.

His advertisement said they were rooted. Since I'm a complete newbie, I just figured he knew better than I did when I noticed it, and let it go.

Take them out of the rockwool to check them out. If the bottom of the stem is mushy, you'll need to re-cut, and put them in a cup of water. If the stems are not mushy, put them in a cup of water. If there are roots, put them in a cup of water. See a pattern?

If there are lots of white bumps, then they will be showing roots within hours. If you are paying for rooted cuttings you should see roots before you buy them.

that sucks man 8-( you should have looked if no roots no cash! all is not lost though. take the cutting out of the system and put it in a nice warm place 75-80F with a clear lid on it under some fluorescent light or window sill and keep the light over 18 hours even if its a normal house light does not matter the clones should set roots anyware from 3 days to 3 weeks.

i know how you feel iv had the same stunt pulled on me once by the bloke down the grow shop who was a good m8, but he did not know him self as he had them of another bloke so i cant blame him. next time no roots no cash!

I didn't know any better, now I do. I just spoke with the grower, and he said he'll replace any that die, so there's good news.

I just checked them, and 3 of the 4 slid right out of the rockwool, no roots at all. Nothing that I could see. I have some root hormone, can I cut them, coat them in the hormone, and them put them back?

you can try and re cut them iv never botherd i just throw them out, but i have my own cuttings and only grow the best out of them. tell the bloke you had them off your not happy and want proper cutting with roots or you will not buy from him again! im sure he will sort you out hes trying to make $$$$

dirty roten scum fucker:fire: cant stand pricks like him. get your self some seeds and start from there they are cheaper than cuttings and you can choose what you want to grow your self.

man my blood boils when i hear of shit like this!

I can definitely appreciate your passion on the issue. I'm going to try to re-root and give them a few days. if they die off, he says he'll replace them. The loss of a few days won't kill me.

I thought clones were going to be easier than seeds. You know, cut a week or two off the growing time, don't have to worry about whether or not they'll actually get to you, all that stuff. I'll definitely consider them next time.

no you cant beat seeds m8 you never know what your going to get! clones are perdictable good and bad! keep a good clone alive for ever;-) if you think a clone can grow faster than a seed then think again. clones have a use of knowing your whole garden will be female but yeild from a seed to a clone? lets look at it like this??? it can take up to 3 weeks for a clone to root now a seed veged for 3 weeks and hit 12/12 can look like this
so are clones better? yes if they root with in 3 weeks and you know they are from a good mother plant that yeilds well, if you dont know the mother plant then you could find its not all its cracked out to be.

plant below is critical mass direct from mr shantibaba:lol: well known for yeild its the original big bud that him and nevil worked on back in the 80s
if you live close i can sort you out cuttings for fuck all thats the type of bloke i am and have sorted a few people out that i know over the net

Did you use any rooting solution? If not, get Rootone and follow direction. Clones do not like to be dripping. I've had best luck with soaking rockwool in kickstart, squeezing excess, into tub on seeding mat< heating pad. though if temps above 75 not needed.. Add water to tub for humidity, cover..ignore..4-7 days later uncover..Though I spray with Dutch Master APS but if don't have NBD..Just be sure you see a bit of moisture on plastic.. Then under brighter lights, but not close.. When you see new leaf growth, transplant..Happy girls.. I'vew done well over 200 this way in the last 6 mos..
