guys I would like to ask you a question. I have a seedlig 8days old. I was looking around and seen roots coming out of the holes I made in bottom(styrofoam cup 20 oz). And trying come out some I made in the side.should I go ahead and transplant in 3 gal pot or a smaller one for now ? Thanks in advance!...

No.... wait another 4-5 days (maybe more), let the roots build up and then transplant. You will have a shit load of roots gagging to shoot out in a new pot and do what they do best, go forth, multiply and feed ya babies.

Don't bump up so fast. Wait til they eat water fast the bump to a gallon wait til it get too fast again than bump up. I'm no pot size expert but I'd wait.

some people like to pot up in stages; 1 gallon then 2 gallon then 3 gallon and so on, they reckon it allows the roots to increase in a more balanced way. others will only pot twice. some will only do it once, starting and finishing in the same pot. the arguments about the merits of these approaches are endless. personally ive tried all these methods and i cant honestly say ones better than the other. if i am transplanting then i will transplant as soon as i see roots emerging, not just one though its has to be half a dozen or so. have u ever transplanted before? if not then my advice is wait until your plant has used up all its water , then the soil is dry and easier to handle and when u transplant it you should water straight away as then the roots will be ready for water and will stretch towards it.

Good point: re: allowing the soil to dry before transplanting. I'm a noob and transplanted yesterday with wet soil and a lot of the soil broke away and I even damaged one of my little babies (not sure if she's a girl yet)

I'll know for next time!

Ok thanks guys ! Finally got good quality seeds and want to give them the best chance possible.

Yes go for the big pot so you dont have to go through the stress of repotting again. I have started using potting soil with no nutes as I believe the stuff with nutes caused a slight nut. burning from what I have been able to figure out... Good luck!
