Normal fan of clones, lets try a seedling..

Hey all. I know I should just go do a tag search, but that just makes it no fun! Plus I would rather have recent information instead of reading something months old. So here are a few basic questions regarding growing a seed from 12/12. Since I have only experience growing clones, I need a little help. Thanks in advance oh wise ones.:dunce:

:leaf:Should the seedling be in a humidity dome?
If so how long?

:leaf:Is it better to start in a small cup or pot, rather then a more sizable pot so there is not transfer?
If better to put in smaller cup or pot. If I use the same medium, will it reduce shock?

:leaf:What temperature and humidity best fits the seedlings?

:leaf:Is it recommended to have a small veg time, rather just 12/12.

Thanks again guys and gals. This ones for you :joint:.......and this one for me :joint:

I've never used a dome for seedlings. I don't think it is as important as with clones. Just plant root down and put under the lights.

Start small. Some people use keg cups (party cups, whatever). I use starter pots which are less than a gallon. Definitely use the same medium. Once the seeds fill the pot (which they will do faster than clones due to their vigor), slowly and carefully work out the root mass and transfer. I have never had transfer issues.

Same as normal. 70ish degrees, 40% humidity.

Really up to you. Unlike clones, seeds will generally have more vigor and will grow faster and thicker. You are going to want to give them some veg time before switching to 12/12 though. Usually a week veg time is necessary before inducing flower, though some strains may require more.

If you start it out on 12/12 from the start, the plant will veg on its own for a few weeks till preflowers begin to show...
