Hi I am new to the boards and growing. I am going to build an aero box with rubber maids using some ideas from this site. I am going to grow 5 super lemon haze plants (2008 cup winner). Sorry I'm sure some of these have been answered but these are a couple questions I have not been able to completely answer for myself.

1. Is a 400w hps light going to be enough?
2. I want to use cfls to veg and keep up my mother how many of what what? (cfl thread confused me)
3. I am going to use foxfarm nutes will I also need ph up and down stuff?
4. Do i need a ppm meter? or can I just go by a standard preceedure like topping off with half nute rich water one day alternating with reg water the next?

ok here's some answer to get yopu started.

1, what light you need depends on how much space you have. 400w HPS will grow 6 nice plants easily, but a 600 could help produce more buds. without your grow space dimensions its not easy to help. (remember you will need some extraction /intake for the temps the light causes.

2, again the space you have is a big factor. if you can i would just buy a HPS/MH conversion light and use MH for veg.

3, Good choice of nutes. iv never used ph up or down. but it depends on the soil. it could have buffers in it already. someone else may have other views on this.

4, no idea. iv never used one like with the ph up/down. never needed to really.

like I said Im going to use a rubber maid so im growing in a very small area. And if I have a 400w hps do i need intake outtake for heat? i was hoping i could just set 2 fans next to it lol.

you should really read up the FAQ more if you can or search for rubbermaid grows.

if i remember a rubbermaid is a box right? im uk so its just called a box here i think :D

anyway there's no chance you'l fit a 400hPS in there and not fry your plants to death within minutes, for a 400hps your going to need about 12inch above your plants hight at all times, mayeb a bit less. but i wouldnt put a 400watter in a space smaller than 1m2 by 2mtres high or so.

not just one im using one for the base/water reservoir. then an extender then another one on top upside down with the bottom cut off so I can put my light above it. Then I can change the height of my growbox to whatever necesaryx.x

As for the CFLs. I use GE Daylight 6500k Cool Natural Light 26watts = 100watts. They work great.
