Nutrient Deficiencies???

Hello fellow growing brothers/sisters. I must ask for help from experienced auto growers because I am new to the indoor scene. This is my 2nd run and I'd like to make this a good one. My previous run was a fail. I am having some deficiency problems with my plants. This cycle I'm running is Pineapple Express and Critical + 2.0 and It's not like I haven't been doing research on my own, because I have... Just looking to take care of this issue before it gets to bad. Thought I had a grip on it, but it looks to me as if it might be getting a little worse. My little girls are only 3.5 weeks old. I have them in Fox Farm's Ocean Forest Soil. I'm pretty sure there is a Nitrogen deficiency along with a possible Magnesium/Calcium deficiency. Not to sure as to what is causing the "claw"? I've read a few things both depicting a different answer to the problem. I fed them nutes at 1/4 dose a few days ago. I read that the "claw" was supposed to be Nitrogen toxicity but yet I think it's deficient? If anyone could lend a helping hand, it would be greatly appreciated... I will post some pics to help with visuals as soon as they come through my e-mail :wall:

I was thinking of cutting the nutes out for a straight watering and just adding some cal/ mag @ 50%. Any thoughts???

Well looks like you have nute burn, so somehow you seem to have got too much nute to them.

They do good on there own in good soil in veg. I don't really start feeding them till around week four of veg.

If I were you I would consider leaving out the nutes for a week and see how they respond to pure water.

Are you watering till you get a run off?

And then you might be better off with a basic Tomato fertiliser for the rest of the vegging period to get them back on an even keel.

I remember in my first grow all they got in veg was water and they were some very healthy plants.

So now I’m trying to keep things real simple.

Back to basics.

I know a lot of people that dont even give nutes the first few weeks and never have problems, AF's dont require no where close to the strength of nutes photo strains do, its not Deficient the chlorosis on the plans would be different. If I were you (and I know people dont suggest this at all sp there will most likely be some nay sayers, but yo need to take them out of those damn red cups then put them in the pot how they should of been right off the bat. The base of your root mass is in that cup and could be getting root bound (inside the red cup not the pot you have it in, and I said could be root bound, not is ;P)

Thanks for the reply Herb Man! Yes man, I would say I give them a 20% run-off (give or take). Prior to my attempted grows, I did read in a couple places that Fox Farm's "Ocean Forest" was a little to hot for autos. I did not think it would be that big of a deal. It is obvious to me now that I will never use Fox Farm's "Ocean Forest" for my auto grows again as it is to harsh on the little girls. The same thing happened my last grow and I never touched them as far as nutes for about a month. To ach his own... You have to learn from your mistakes. It's only wrong when you keep making them, lol. Starting with my next grow I'm just going to go with a good basic organic soil that I will mix myself (give or take a 60/40 mix w/perlite and a couple little goodies). I will take you advise Herb and go with straight water for a while until they kick back a bit.

Where do you guys see nute burn? I see none, look at the rest of the plant, not even the tips are burnt. I would venture out and say you don't balance your water or nutes before watering? Remove the leaves in question bump your nutes up by a hundred and add some cal/mag or something similar. She wants to turn on but can't...JAS

Yeah man, I've learnt that the simpler the better.

After using too much supplementation on my plants in some previous, I currently on one of my best grows in terms of implementing simple remedies and not over supplementing.

The way I look at veg now is, keep the plants as clean/green as possible to prepare them for flowering, when they really have to work.

I grew stellar weed in my first grow with just water and a couple applications of Miracle Grow, I like to remind myself of that from time to time, now I’m an organics guy.

Keep it as simple as possible is my recommendation, including nute usage.

Get your temps and humidity right, don't keep it in the small cup for more than 14 days and understand every supp you are using.

Thanks for the input Jeffdogg! Honestly, It's to late to remove them from the Solo cups. They're well rooted, and I'm afraid that a disturbance of such would just damage/break some of the root system causing decreased, slowed, or stunted growth. I did a lot of research prior to ourchasing the seeds I went with... the 2 strains I chose because of their nute tolerance and just right down size of the plant. Also I have seen many videos of people using the solo cup method with massive autos as a result. I will admit to my mistake as I had a shipping and receiving issue. Had to send back a damage grow tent I bought through amazon and that took like an extra week past the time I had originally expected to switch everything over (tent, lights, pots, ect.) As you can see from the pics, all I did was cut the bottom of the cups off and put in pot. The tap root is supposed to grow down the cup and in to the pot (logically). Due to the unexpected time lapse, I found that the tap root had already hit the bottom of the cups by the time I actually had everything I needed to switch things over. Once gain, you must learn from your mistakes (As I am). Hopefully My girls still turn out large enough to get a decent harvest. Thanks again Jeffdogg!
